Kendrick Lamar to Headline New Global Citizen Festival in Rwanda

Global Citizen Festival has announced its latest initiative, Move Afrika, which will be working closely with Kendrick Lamar.

On Monday, Global Citizen announced that the first ever Move Afrika festival event in Rwanda will host Lamar as the festival’s headline act. The ticket event will take place on December 6 at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

The upcoming event will begin the organization’s future expansion into festivals across the African continent. In addition to headlining the December festival, Lamar and Dave Free’s company, pgLang, will be organizing the upcoming Move Afrika event. PgLang will continue to host Move Afrika events for the next five years.

“Move Africa is Global Citizen’s latest attempt to address global inequality by creating jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities for the continent’s new generations through an annual series of world-class live events,” according to Global Citizen’s official website.

The event will also invest in health services provided by local communities. Move Afrika will also work with local suppliers, agencies, artists and crews to provide on-the-job skills development and training opportunities.

This initiative aims to promote equity through health, environmental and economic policy goals. The official site explained: “We call on Global Citizens to take action to demand that African leaders, philanthropy and the private sector make significant commitments to make significant progress towards strengthening health systems.”
