Kevin Costner and estranged wife Christine have settled for divorce.
“Kevin and Christine Costner have come to an amicable and mutually agreed resolution of all issues related to their divorce proceedings,” Kevin’s rep said in a joint statement for the duo.
TMZ first broke the news of the settlement.
The turn of events is surprising, given the couple’s contentious legal battle over the past few months after Christine filed for divorce on May 1 after 18 years of marriage.
In her application, Christine stated the date of separation from Yellowstone actor as on April 11. The two have three children together: sons Cayden, 16, and Hayes, 14, plus daughter Grace, 13.

The actor’s rep said in a statement at the time of Christine’s divorce filing: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have occurred that have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in the divorce action.”
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they go through this difficult time,” the representative added.
Over the past four-plus months, Kevin and Christine have appeared in court to hammer out details and payments on everything from the timing of Christine’s move out of their family home in Santa Barbara, Calif., to child support payments from Field of dreams actor.

Christine also testified that she considered going back to school for a college degree. “I will consider the steps I need to take and the education I need to do and I will get a job,” she said at the forum about how she will support herself in the future.
When Kevin took the stand, he admitted that “my world was rocked a little bit” as a result of the split. Speaking about how he plans to move forward, he said: “I have to take care of commitments that are already there; I have a lot of responsibilities to take care of.”
“I have to figure out how I’m going to spend more time with the kids, take them through this process,” added the Oscar winner. “I will have to take some time for myself… I have a lot to think about – what I have do in relation to what i want to make.”
Ahead of news of their settlement, the former couple was scheduled to appear in court again this December to resolve the validity of their prenuptial agreement.
His marriage to Christine was Kevin’s second after a 16-year marriage to Cindy Silva that ended in divorce in 1994.
