Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani was born on February 24, 1934 in Navnagar, British India (now Jamnagar, Gujarat, India). His original name was Kokilaben. ·Patel (84 years old in 2018). She was born into a conservative but supportive Gujarati family. She was born and raised at a time when Indian women were still restricted from learning. However, her family, especially her father, understood the importance of education for an individual’s intellectual growth and self-improvement; therefore, he prevented Kokilaben and her siblings from receiving an education. She graduated (Class 10th) from Sajuba Girls High School, Jamnagar. At the age of 21, she married businessman Dhirubhai Ambani and moved to Mumbai.
