Kourtney Kardashian Admits Her Family ‘Normalizes’ Men’s Bad Behavior: ‘I Don’t Want to Show My Daughter That’

Kourtney Kardashian Barker may be ready to forgive, but she certainly won’t forget.

Thursday’s episode The Kardashians picked up where he left off last week — with Kourtney and Tristan Thompson finally sitting down to discuss his misdeeds, especially when it comes to his relationship with Kourtney’s younger sister, Khloé Kardashian.

While Tristan, 32, took responsibility for his actions and repeated infidelities, Kourtney, 44, highlighted how happy he is to be part of their family – regardless of his past mistakes.

“In this family, you’re so happy — all the boys — because for whatever reason the higher priority is, ‘Let’s all be happy and get along, and let Tristan be on Christmas Eve and everyone be there, and it’s one big happy family and we’ll make sure to keep everything fun and happy,’ Kourtney said. “For some reason, that takes priority in this family over setting boundaries or having someone’s back or having someone’s side.”

Admitting that she “did it on her own,” Kourtney continued, “I was a part of this whole thing, but it’s interesting to me when I think about it in a superficial way.”

“We can make sure that Khloé looks her best… but really making sure that person feels supported, advocated for, sets the boundaries that need to be set and is supported in that,” she added. “And in this family it is not [supported]. Happiness is great for you and for the children, but then it’s also like…”

As her voice trailed off, Tristan agreed he was lucky to be surrounded by a supportive family and vowed to “own up” to his missteps and “do better.”

Kourtney Kardashian Says Tristan Thompson Doesn’t ‘Deserve Khloé’ As She Admits She Doesn’t Know ‘How To Love’

“I’m not proud of the person I was. Am I proud of the person I’m becoming? Sure, but for that to happen, I had to fall, hit rock bottom, lose everything in life and really be like, ‘Yo, you gotta pick up your s— — up,'” he said. “I had to grow up so I could be better for my kids.”

However, Kourtney wasn’t entirely convinced. In the confessional, the Poosha founder told the cameras that she’s “not here to hold a grudge” and that she “believes people can grow,” but expressed skepticism about Tristan’s words and actions.

“It was interesting to me, the work he does and the path he takes, because when your words don’t match your actions, it’s worrying,” she said. “Talk is cheap. In our family, everyone can tend to normalize the behavior of some of the men in our lives, and I don’t want to show my daughter that that’s okay.”

“I think forgiving and giving grace is right, but also having really clear boundaries, I think is very important,” she added.

Kourtney’s comments weren’t just aimed at Tristan, but also evoked her own relationship with ex Scott Disick, as well as several of her other sister’s significant others.

Khloé, 39, and Tristan began dating on and off in 2016. He cheated on her multiple times, including once just days before their daughter True was born and another time with Kylie Jenner’s ex-best friend, Jordyn Woods in 2019. Years later, they their romance is another possibility, but it was later revealed in December 2021 that Tristan fathered a child with Maralee Nichols around the same time he and Khloé were secretly expecting their second child via surrogate.

Kim Kardashian has also faced some difficulties in her past – most notably with ex-husband Kanye West.

Kim and Kanye divorced in February 2021 after six years of marriage. The former couple — who began dating in 2011 and share four children, daughters North, 10, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4 — experienced a crisis in their marriage at the height of West’s public outbursts in 2020 after launching a controversial candidacy for President of the United States and revealed deeply personal details about his family and marriage on the campaign trail and on Twitter.

In the midst of their divorce, Kanye dropped anti-Semitic lyrics online and also began attacking Kim and her then-new boyfriend Pete Davidson, both online and in print, including in the video for his single “Eazy” in which the rapper was kidnapped, tied up and buried clay version of Pete.

Kylie Jenner also had a very good relationship with rapper Travis Scott, with whom she shares daughter Stormi (5) and son Aire (21 months). They dated on and off since 2017, but split again earlier this year. She is now in a relationship with actor Timothée Chalamet.

Despite the missteps of her sisters’ exes, all of the women generally remained on good terms long after the relationship ended, striving to maintain a good friendship and co-parenting relationship for the sake of their children.
