Kuldeep Yadav plays domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh. He made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy in the 2016-17 season. In the 2016 Duleep Trophy, he took 17 wickets in three matches.

He had previously been selected in India’s squad against West Indies; however, he did not feature in any of the matches. On 6 October 2018, he took his first five wickets in a Test match against West Indies. His second five-wicket haul came in the fourth Test match against Australia at the SCG on 6 January 2019.

He took three wickets in the second game of the series and became the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. - When Kuldeep joined childhood coach Kapil Pandey’s cricket academy in Kanpur, he wanted to become a fast bowler like Zaheer Khan and Wasim Akram; however, his coach He is suggested to be a Chinaman, a rare spin bowler. Kapil Pandey spoke about this in an interview and said:

- According to Kuldeep, he was so disappointed when he was not selected for the Uttar Pradesh under-15 national team that he even began contemplating suicide; he was 13 at the time. In an interview, he spoke about this and said:
