L.A. Baker Finds Humor in the Items Her Husband Took While Evacuating: Bras, Velvet Blazer, Robes Without Sashes

A California baker finds humor in dark times after her house burns down in the Los Angeles wildfires.

Erin McKenna took to Instagram on Thursday, January 9, to show how her husband packed their family’s belongings during the evacuation.

“Here’s everything my husband took before the evacuation,” the vegan- and gluten-free-focused pastry chef began in the video, holding each item as she continued.

“His velvet blazer, two bras for me, two robes for me without a belt, a whole trunk for him,” described owner Erin McKenna’s Bakery.

Of course, he wasn’t just randomly picking up clothes, McKenna explained, showing that he also grabbed an assortment of things for their three children. “My daughter’s script for her play, trophies, grocery bags, an empty suitcase, all his guitars,” the cookbook author said.

To give credit where credit is due, McKenna pointed to a stuffed bunny with a blanket and declared, “This counts.” “And it’s actually a tracksuit,” she added.

LA fires: 24 dead, at least 23 missing, officials say, as high winds threaten region

In the caption, McKenna wrote that her “heart hurts.” โ€œNothing is funny about what’s going on, but I find this funny ๐Ÿ˜„ In fact, my husband is a hero for getting the kids and dog to safety in record time. And I’m grateful for the robes.โ€
