Lala Kent Shares She’s Conceiving Her Second Baby via IUI: ‘You Don’t Need a Man’

Lala Kent is ready for another child.

In an interview with Cosmopolitanthe Vanderpump Rules star, 33, revealed that she has begun the process of conceiving a second child through intrauterine insemination (IUI) — a treatment in which sperm is surgically placed into the uterus to fertilize an egg.

Kent, who is going through the process alone with a donor, is already mom to daughter Ocean, 2½, who she shares with ex Randall Emmett.

Noting that she had friends who went through the process but were in “relationships,” the reality TV star says “when my life took a completely different direction, I knew I wanted more kids.”

“It was such a weird thing that was happening because everyone would tell me, ‘You’re going to find someone.’ And I started thinking, ‘Why does my desire to have more children have to include another person?'”

Lala Kent Says Her Daughter’s Fertility Journey to Have a Sibling Is Going ‘Full Steam’ (Exclusive)

For Kent, the IUI process is “very much scientific sex. It’s the craziest thing in the world. When the doctor was explaining it to me, I said, ‘Oh, this is like being in the bedroom with someone, but I don’t have to wait for the big O.’ It’s just one and done.”

“Like, just to wrap it up, let’s take the most valuable thing that comes out of a man, which is his sperm, and I’m going to go,” she continues.

“I’m not going to risk having my child,” she says. “And I just don’t think that finding a partner and falling in love with someone has anything to do with bringing a child into the world.”

Now, Kent’s biggest advice to other women is to bet on yourself.

“If you want kids and you’re just waiting for ‘that person’ to come into your life, let’s talk about a different path we can take. It’s 2024! There are many ways to have a baby, and you don’t need a man to do it,” she says.

Earlier this month, Kent spoke with PEOPLE at the Season 11 premiere Vanderpump Rulessharing his desire to give his daughter a sibling.

“I think Ocean is going to go crazy when another baby comes along because she’s obsessed with babies and I think she’s going to be extremely hands-on,” Kent said at the time.

Asked where she’s been on her fertility journey, Kent teased, “We’re on a journey! We’re actually pulling our ass full steam ahead.”
