Lil Wayne is ready and more than willing to headline the Super Bowl halftime show when it takes place in his hometown of New Orleans in 2025.
The Grammy-winning rapper opened up about his desires for a halftime performance in a new interview with Bleacher Report‘s Taylor Rooks and revealed he can’t wait to take the stage at Caesars Superdome for Super Bowl LIX next February.
“[I want it] as much as I’d like to see my name at the top of that list if I was any age I’d walk into that office and get that Board magazine,” he said.
Wayne, 41, admitted that while the performance had “nothing to do with the sport” of football, it was still a huge achievement and one he would love to achieve in his hometown.

“I know for a fact that when I work at Louisiana Fest, there’s a trillion people there. And to be in front of your city and see so many people is amazing. So to know that the Super Bowl would be … what?!,” he said. “To go to the Super Bowl before and watch the halftime show and wish, when you see the performer, like they could have sung a song that featured me. I’m featured in everyone’s song. You could have taken me out!”
Still, if he does take the big stage one day, don’t expect the rapper to bring his own guests.
“Please don’t feel slighted if you are an artist from New Orleans or an artist associated with me in any way in music [industry], but know that this is my moment,” he said. “I deserved that moment. Well, I’m not bringing anyone. I sing all the hooks that you made, that you wrote, I sing them. Bobby Valentino, all of you, I sing them, sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, and Wayne said he would consider bringing in a “New Orleans jazz great” — or Beyoncé.
“If I have a song with Beyoncé or something at the time… if I have a song with Beyoncé, then sure,” he said. “There is no sense in not being like that. Besides, Tay Tay [Swift] could succeed, maybe. Tay Tay could make it. But if Chiefs [are] we’re actually playing in it, then no, we’re not going to do it.”

For Wayne, the opportunity to play in his beloved city would be an opportunity to show the world what is special about the Big Easy.
“There are so many people there who are not from the city, so it’s a showcase and something that tourists take with them,” he said. “And I believe I’m part of the New Orleans window.”
Super Bowl LIX will mark the first time since 2013 that the big game will be played in New Orleans (Beyoncé performed at halftime that year.)
Usher is set to headline this year’s halftime show, which will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11.
