What better way for Lily Collins to celebrate Emily Cooper’s holiday in Rome than by drawing inspiration from its rich history?
PEOPLE caught up Emily in Paris star, 35, at the Season 2 Episode 4 premiere event held at The Space Cinema Moderno in Rome on Tuesday (September 10). While there, she revealed that her sparkling gold dress was a subtle nod to her character’s new adventure.
“I wear Schiaparelli, and that was my daring Roman statue moment,” she tells PEOPLE.

The sexy slouchy look featured sophisticated sequin detailing and bronze medal embellishments that matched Collins’ layered bracelets. She added some contrast by wearing brown open-toe heels with bright red nail polish.

Her chic bob cut was worn with a middle part, light makeup and dark pink lips.

Franceschini, 32, who joins the new season as Emily’s potential new beau, Marcello, tells PEOPLE that appearing on the show was “an unexpected gift because everything happened so quickly.”
“When I was selected, I was filming a TV series here in Italy, so I didn’t have time to understand what was going on,” he says. – So, I threw myself into something.

His character joins the series just after Emily and Gabriel (Bravo) finally confess their love for each other.
