Tim Walz is “grateful” for Taylor Swift’s support ahead of the 2024 election.

Shortly after the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the Minnesota governor, 60, appeared on MSNBC for the network’s post-debate coverage, where he responded to Swift’s support for him and Harris, 59.

“I’m incredibly grateful, first of all, to Taylor Swift. I say this as a cat owner — a fellow cat owner. That was eloquent and clear,” Walz told host Rachel Maddow, adding, “And that’s the kind of courage we need in America, to stand up.”

Swift, 34, announced her support for Harris moments after the presidential hopeful finished her first debate with Trump, 78, on Tuesday, September 10.

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight,” the singer captioned an Instagram post alongside a photo of her holding a cat. “If you haven’t already, now is a great time to research the issues and the positions these candidates take on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

Then referencing the fake AI images that falsely portrayed her support for Trump — which the former president had previously shared on his social media platform, Truth Social — Swift continued: “It really brought to life my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading disinformation.”

“This has led me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my real plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is the truth,” she then said, noting, “I’m going to cast my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential elections.”

The Grammy winner then went on to shout out all the reasons why she supports Harris, explaining that she “fights for rights and believes it takes a warrior to defend them.”

“I think she’s a tough, gifted leader, and I believe we can achieve so much more in this country if we’re led by peace, not chaos,” Swift continued. “I was very encouraged and impressed by her choice of rival @timwalz, who has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

Swift previously endorsed President Joe Biden and Harris during the 2020 election season. The endorsement marked the first time she has publicly endorsed a presidential candidate.

The “Karma” musician announced her support for Biden (81) at the time by publishing her cover for Magazine VThought Leaders posted on Instagram with the caption, “I talked to @vmagazine about why I’m voting for Joe Biden for president.”
