Lindsay Lohan Is ‘Excited to Work with’ Jamie Lee Curtis on Freaky Friday Sequel: ‘We’re Going to Have a Lot of Fun’ (Exclusive)

Lindsay Lohan is “excited” to return to work with Jamie Lee Curtis on the long-awaited sequel Crazy Friday.

Lohan, 37, tells PEOPLE that the new movie is “in the works,” but she couldn’t say when filming will begin or if there’s even a finished script. However Irish wish star could say she’s “just excited to work with Jamie again and see how far we can go.”

“Because we generally talk almost every other day, I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this,” Lohan continues.

Earlier Monday, Lohan said on SiriusXM Andy Cohen live yes it is Crazy Friday the sequel is still happening, adding that she and Curtis, 65, are “both excited” about the project.

When Crazy Friday Celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, Curtis has talked about the prospects for a sequel in several interviews. The Oscar winner and Lohan even sat down for a joint interview with The New York Timesin which they considered making a hit comedy about a body-swapping mother-daughter duo.

“While I was going around the world with Halloween is endingpeople wanted to know if there would be another one Crazy Friday”, Curtis told times last year. “Something really struck a chord. When I got back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘I feel like I need to make a movie.'”

Lohan added that the two are “both open” to moving on. “We would only make something that people would absolutely love,” she said.

Mark Harmon, who played the partner of Curtis’ character, was also confident that Curtis could create a sequel. “I’ve known her since she was 15 and if she talks about it, then it will happen, because everything happens,” the former NCIS star, 72, told Kelly Clarkson in November 2023.

In May 2023. Diversity reported that Elyse Hollander is writing the script for Crazy Friday continuation.

Crazy Friday based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers. Disney made a version in 1976 starring Jodie Foster and the late Barbara Harris, and then a second version in 1995 with Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman. The Lohan-Curtis version is the most commercially successful film, earning $160 million at the box office during its 2003 run.

Lohan’s latest film, Irish wishwill be released on Netflix on March 15th. It is her second Netflix film, after 2022. Falling for Christmas.
