Lorraine Kelly sparks viewer complaints after making awkward on-air blunder

Lorraine Kelly has received complaints from viewers of her ITV show after she repeatedly impersonated pop star Sam Smith during Thursday’s version of the show.

The Scottish journalist was talking to Vogue Williams model about the best fashion style from the UK premiere of Barbie in Leicester Square on Wednesday night, when she misused the pronoun for Sam Smith, who appeared on the red carpet in an oversized sweater and baggy jeans.

Viewers were quick to correct the 63-year-old on Twitter, with one person writing: “Sam Smith is not binary #lorraine,” while another wrote: “That’s the last name/last name for Sam Smith.” – Vogue knows.”

Reacting to the confusion, a third viewer tweeted: “I guess Lorraine didn’t get the memo on Sam Smith and the replacements they chose, awkward.”

Other fans of the show expressed disappointment at Lorraine’s mistake, with one person writing: “Don’t let Lorraine impersonate Sam Smith all the time!! She’s pretty good at that stuff anyway.
