Lorraine Kelly has received complaints from viewers of her ITV show after she repeatedly impersonated pop star Sam Smith during Thursday’s version of the show.
The Scottish journalist was talking to Vogue Williams model about the best fashion style from the UK premiere of Barbie in Leicester Square on Wednesday night, when she misused the pronoun for Sam Smith, who appeared on the red carpet in an oversized sweater and baggy jeans.
When referring to the “Unholy” singer, Lorraine refers to them as “he/he” rather than “them/them”. Watch the moment in the video below.

Viewers were quick to correct the 63-year-old on Twitter, with one person writing: “Sam Smith is not binary #lorraine,” while another wrote: “That’s the last name/last name for Sam Smith.” – Vogue knows.”

Reacting to the confusion, a third viewer tweeted: “I guess Lorraine didn’t get the memo on Sam Smith and the replacements they chose, awkward.”

Other fans of the show expressed disappointment at Lorraine’s mistake, with one person writing: “Don’t let Lorraine impersonate Sam Smith all the time!! She’s pretty good at that stuff anyway. Vogue looks annoying!!! let Lorraine figure it out, but it didn’t work!! I’m sure she’ll be angry for getting it wrong.”
Lorraine has long been considered an ally of LGBTQ+ and often provides a platform for community members to share their stories on her show.
Speaking to Attitude in 2021 about her program being “LGBTQ,” she said: “The show is named after me, so it should reflect the values that I have.

This is not the first time Lorraine has received criticism from viewers of her show in recent weeks.

Taking to Twitter in June, someone claiming Lorraine loves “everyone” appeared on her show, which she has hosted since 2010.
The post in question read: “It has nothing to do with this. But you love everyone, every book, every song of the people you have on your show.”
Lorraine was quick to respond to Twitter users. She retweeted the original post and wrote her response below it: “Well, it would be stupid to include people if you hate their work, wouldn’t it?”

The journalist’s followers were quick to show their support for the presenter, with one person writing: “It’s great to be back in Lorraine”, while another tweeted: “So easy to be back” being mean, it’s not easy to be nice. That’s why I listen to good people like you.”
