Love Is Blind Season 5 Finale: Who Got Married and Who Said ‘I Don’t’

Friday’s episode of the Netflix hit closed out the two remaining couples who made it to the altar: Stacy Snyder and Izzy Zapata and Milton Johnson and Lydia Velez Gonzalez.

There was no shortage of drama before the final episode as an engaged couple called it quits days into their trip to Mexico, bombshell revelations were made about former contestants, and couples who failed to make it out of the group were given a second chance. engaged.

As the couples went through the ups and downs of life together in the real world, they eventually had to determine “if love really is blind.” Scroll down to find out who still believes in it and who eventually went their separate ways.

Taylor Rue and Jared “JP” Pierce seemed like the perfect couple in the group and were the first couple to get engaged in Season 5. However, the two struggled to form a true relationship after their embarrassing discovery and ended up cutting their trip short for a few days to Mexico.

During the getaway, flow of conversation was a big issue for the pair, with Taylor, 26, expressing her wish for JP, 32, to talk more, while JP was adamant he didn’t want to be pressured. This resulted in very awkward moments between the engaged couple.

Later, when Taylor confronted her firefighter fiance on camera about their big breakup, he finally admitted that he was uncomfortable with her physical appearance when they first saw each other live. “I felt like you were fake,” he said in episode 6. “You had a make-up face, fake eyelashes… you were presenting fake things.”

“When I first saw you, you had all these things on, I thought, ‘Well, is this going to be an everyday thing? Am I going to have to deal with this, what are you doing face?’ You’re literally putting on a completely different face, and I’m like, ‘Well, that’s not really what I want,'” he said, before emphasizing his desire for her makeup-free look. “I want this face.”

Although Taylor insisted that his claim was unfair because he didn’t know what she looked like from the start, the two were unable to find common ground. The teacher didn’t take kindly to his words and decided to take some space from JP before finally ending their engagement the next morning.

“I was like, ‘This is it. I have this feeling in my heart and I don’t want to go through with it,'” she told PEOPLE when she reached her breaking point.

Milton Johnson and Lydia Velez Gonzalez had a very unconventional path to the altar.

The two struck up a capsule relationship and later got secretly engaged – but not before she revealed she had previously dated co-star Uche Okoroh, who had been linked to her show pal Aaliyah Cosby.

Milton, 25, was understandably shocked by the revelation and remained calm in the pods, upsetting Lydia, 32, who wanted a more vocal response from him. When Milton couldn’t provide it, the two decided to break away from the pods for a moment and go into their living quarters before reuniting to discuss the bomb.

The pair went through a shocking revelation – but that was only the beginning of what was to come as Aaliyah left the experiment early, seemingly due to the history between Uche and Lydia. Aaliyah was particularly uncomfortable with Lydia’s comments about Uche and every detail she seemed to know about the life of a lawyer and entrepreneur.

This drama came to a head when Uche, 34, returned for the cast mixer and found himself embroiled in a heated argument with Lydia, which included Uche’s surprising claim that Lydia stalked him after their breakup and then allegedly followed him on the show. Although Milton insisted he was unfazed by the allegations, the petroleum engineer revealed shortly before their wedding that he was unhappy with the way his geologist fiancee had handled the situation.

Another point of contention for the couple appears to have been Milton’s family, who were not immediately welcoming of Lydia and questioned the legitimacy of their relationship – particularly due to their seven-year age difference.

Despite everything, the two managed to overcome the challenges and said “I do” at the altar.

“We’ve had our ups, we’ve had our downs and the communication maturity you’ve shown, I knew you were the one. I’ve never doubted you and I hope it stays that way forever,” Milton said in his vows.

In the pods, Izzy bonded with multiple women, including Stacy, Lydia, and Johnie. However, it was Stacy who eventually won his heart and got his marriage proposal.

After the two got engaged and met in person, they seemed to hit it off well, having a natural chemistry and ease with each other. But things changed when Izzy was introduced to Stacy’s life in Houston and immediately began criticizing the sales clerk’s way of living, including his “messy” apartment, drawer of “lost and found” belongings from random women, and use of paper plates.

Stacy was also extremely concerned about Izzy’s finances and bad credit—especially since the director of operations was used to a lavish lifestyle (as her dad said, “sometimes love wants to fly first class”).

On their wedding day, Izzy agreed to marry Stacy, but she wasn’t on the same page.

“I want you and I want to say yes,” she said at the altar, “but now I would be doing you and myself a disservice to say that ‘I want’ when I feel there are many things we need – and, most of all, we need time .”

Izzy said he understood and still loved Stacy, and the two kissed.

Even after it seemed like they were on good terms and might try dating again, Izzy later decided he needed some space.

“We’re in different places, it really breaks my heart. I love you, I wanted to marry you, the timeline didn’t matter to me. But that’s just me. When will the time ever be right? That’s what I’ll ask myself with you,” Stacy said. “I just want to be loved the way I love. Ultimately, I deserve it.”

Izzy added in a separate interview: “It’s like she’s always trying to find something that’s wrong… It’s like all the outside s— was coming at her and I was blocking it all out. The looks, the money, the drama. I just focused on her.”

He continued, “The whole point of this [experiment] is, Does it matter? Does creditworthiness matter? Does the car I drive matter? Does it matter where I go to fucking dinner? None of that matters to me. This makes me wonder: ‘Why are you 33 years old and single?’ I’m 29 years old and I can give you everything that a fucking rich 45-year-old man you always strive for and always fail at can’t give you.”
