Lupita Nyong’o Wore Blue to the 2024 Oscars to Commemorate Her ‘Introduction to Hollywood’ 10 Years Ago

The color blue has a special meaning for Lupita Nyong’o!

In a sentimental and motivational Instagram post on Saturday, the 41-year-old actress explained why she wore a custom black Armani Privé gown with glittering fur-like details to the 2024 Oscars.

“I wore blue to this year’s Oscars to honor my introduction to Hollywood 10 years ago,” she captioned a carousel of pictures of herself at the 2014 Oscars – when she won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 12 years of slavery — and at the 2024 event.

Nyong’o’s dress for the 2014 awards was a Prada gown in a light shade of baby blue that had ethereal vibes and helped the then industry newcomer make an unforgettable mark.

But recently she made headlines related to her private life. Earlier this month, she and Joshua Jackson were photographed packing on the PDA while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to celebrate Nyong’s birthday.

The couple was in bathing suits on the beach while in one photo they were hugging on the shore.

Nyong’o was first linked to Jackson, 45, in October 2023, the same month his ex Jodie Turner-Smith filed for divorce. The Little monsters the star also announced her split from ex-boyfriend Selem Masekela that month.
