She died in Pune on March 12, 2023 at the age of 32. She was heading to Wakad in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, with a friend in search of a bakery room when she felt dizzy and suddenly fell down. She was subsequently taken to hospital and then shifted to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Several injuries were found on her face. Some of her relatives claimed she was murdered; however, police said it looked like a sudden death. After the incident, Wakad senior police officer Satyawan Mane said in an interview with the media that they had opened a case of accidental death and were conducting further investigation. He said,
Madhu Markandeya used to be a cake chef. On Sunday, Madhu and her friends went looking for rooms to rent to expand their business. There, Madhu fell due to sudden dizziness. Madhu was rushed to a private hospital by her friends. However, she was asked to take her to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital. An ‘Accidental Death Report’ (ADR) has been registered and further investigation is underway. ”
