Schools closed in Maharashtra: According to media reports, Raigad District Authority has declared all schools and colleges to be on holiday due to rain. Maharashtra is seeing heavy rains causing some parts of the state to be flooded. The Indian Bureau of Metrology, IMD, has issued an orange alert for Raigad district.
On 22nd July 2023, Department of Regional Metrology, Mumbai also issued forecast and warning for the next 5 days for the district. According to the announcement, Raigad district along with Ratnagiri and Sindhugurha have been classified in orange alert status and are likely to face heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few isolated places until July 26, 2023.

Schools in Kerala closed
Considering the safety of students and monitoring for heavy rainfall and an orange alert, the authorities have declared vocational colleges and Anganwadis in Wayanad, Kozhikode and Kannur districts on holiday. However, faculty and students must note that holidays do not apply to pre-scheduled PSC exams.
For Kannurt, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasarkode, the IMD issued an orange warning and for Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Alappuzha, Kottayam, a yellow alert.
IMD has also issued an orange warning for Gujarat. According to IMD, today Gujarat will experience “heavy to very heavy rain” and Dwarka, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Valsad districts will also experience heavy rainfall.
However, there is no update on the requirement to close colleges and schools in Gujarat. Any officially released updates will be posted here. Parents, teachers and students are asked to stay calm and wait for news.
