The man says his neighbor mistook what he thought was a gesture of help.
In a post on the popular Am I A-hole subreddit, he explains that he lives in an apartment complex across the street from the couple, and the husband hangs the wife’s clothes to dry on their balcony.
However, he claims that his husband throws items over the fence without securing them in any other way, so that lightweight items, such as bras and underwear, often fly away in the wind. And as the wind blows, clothes keep landing on Reddit users’ balconies.

“Mistakes happen, so I take everything that fell in, make sure it’s dry and keep it until I can clumsily put it back the next morning,” the neighbor wrote. “The wife is obviously embarrassed, but she’s grateful that I didn’t let her underwear get lost.”
This problem has been going on for months, and every week the wife comes to the apartment the next morning to pick up clothes.
But the poster says that the husband became angry with him, claiming that keeping his wife’s underwear overnight was “creepy and violent”, and that if the Reddit user has pure intentions, then he should return it the night he finds it.

Furthermore, he says that his husband blamed him for his wife’s dissatisfaction with hanging her clothes.

“I’m the one who corrects HIS mistakes and returns the underwear to the owner as soon as it’s convenient. As a good neighbor SHOULD do,” the post read. “I understand it’s a very intimate subject, but I feel like I’m innocent here.”
The post, shared on Tuesday, November 5, has since received more than 350 comments. The answer above was on the original poster’s side.
“Walking into their apartment and rummaging through her underwear drawer is creepy,” the comment read. “Picking up her underwear when the wind blows them onto your balcony is a neighborly act.”

Another comment, also agreeing, quipped: “‘Don’t touch my wife’s underwear! That’s disrespectful!’ says a man who shows no respect for his own wife’s underwear.”
Other responses pointed out that the underwear dries quickly and can simply be draped inside, that the wife is also wrong to let the situation go on for so long, and that a few clothespins could solve the whole problem.
During the discussion about the post, no one thought the original user was at fault.
