Man Utd fan Rachel Riley blasts ‘heinous’ Antony abuse allegations after taking stand against club over Mason Greenwood

MANCHESTER United fan Rachel Riley has slammed Antony over allegations of domestic violence after previously taking a stand against the club over Mason Greenwood.

The presenter, 37, has called for domestic abuse experts to get involved in Man United’s “club processes” as the £85m winger denies assaulting ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

Rachel’s intervention comes after she was also outspoken against United’s reintegration of Greenwood into the squad ahead of his move to Getafe.

She claimed the club had “abused the green light” with their apparent support for the player – and vowed to stop supporting Man Utd if they allowed the striker to return.

The Countdown co-host and Man United fan has now reacted to the allegations against Antony after his ex shared new texts and pictures which apparently make her claims.

The star has been kicked out of the Brazilian national team and faces police investigations in his home country and the UK.

Antony denies all the allegations and has promised to clear his name.

Cavallin claims the footballer verbally and physically abused her, claiming he left her with a severed finger and assaulted her while she was pregnant.

“Is anyone doing any due diligence on these players?” Riley wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The heinous things described in these charges.”

“This time, domestic abuse experts must be included in the club’s processes.”

A Manchester United spokesman said the club had no comment.

In a statement to Antony on Monday, GMP said: “Greater Manchester Police are aware of the allegations made and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report.

“We will not comment further at this time.”

Gabriela fired back with an official letter on Instagram on Monday as police investigate in her native São Paulo, Brazil.

The influencer and DJ’s statement comes after Antony released his lengthy statement on Instagram, admitting he had a “tumultuous” relationship with Gabriel.

She says she dated the World Cup ace for two years and lived with him in Amsterdam while he played for Ajax.

The 23-year-old claims the first attack happened in a nightclub in São Paulo last July when she was about 17 weeks pregnant with his baby.

Gabriela, who has almost 500 thousand followers on Instagram, published a letter from her legal team.

It read: “The defense of Gabriela Cavallin, given the facts and evidence that became known that day, regarding the repeated episodes of aggression she suffered, informs that it trusts the serious and competent investigation of the civil police of São Paulo.

“[And] it is hoped that, as such, when completed, the aggressor will be prosecuted and punished for the crimes he committed.”

Antony’s statement was released just hours later, in which he said he felt “obliged” to break his silence “out of respect for my fans, friends and family”.

The 23-year-old footballer once again denied the allegations of domestic violence – he repeated his first statement published in June.

“Out of respect for my fans, friends and family, I feel compelled to speak publicly about the false allegations I am the victim of,” he wrote.

“From the beginning, I treated this matter with seriousness and respect, giving the police the necessary clarifications.

“The investigation is under judicial secrecy, so I cannot present its contents to the public.

“However, I can calmly say that the accusations are false, and that the evidence so far and those that will be presented prove my innocence.

He added that his relationship with Gabriel was “tumultuous”, but claims that it never resulted in violence.

– My relationship with Mrs. Gabriela was stormy, with verbal insults from both sides, but I never committed any physical attack – he explained.

“Each time, whether in testimony or in an interview, he presents a different version of the accusations.

“Therefore, I strongly deny the allegations made and inform you that I am available to the Brazilian authorities to clarify anything.

“I believe that the ongoing police investigations will reveal the truth about my innocence.”

The online war of words comes after Gabriela shared a new series of text messages and pictures of her injuries as police in Brazil continue to investigate domestic violence.

Cavallino’s fresh claims were first reported by Brazilian media outlet UOL, one of the largest news providers in the South American country.

In a new series of undated WhatsApp messages, the DJ and influencer claims Antony wished she was dead and told her to “fuck you” after she allegedly refused to answer his texts and calls.

The Premier League ace has also been dropped from the Brazil squad and replaced by Gabriel Jesus ahead of this month’s two World Cup qualifiers.

In a statement, the Brazilian FA (CBF) reported that the cut was made “due to facts that became public this Monday and that need to be investigated, in order to preserve the alleged victim”.
