Manhunt Underway for Teen Murder Suspect Who Escaped While En Route to Philadelphia Hospital

Authorities in Philadelphia are searching for a suspect in the murder of a teenager who escaped from custody while being transported to a hospital.

Wednesday, the US Marshals Service office in Philadelphia chirped that the agency is looking for 17-year-old Shane Pryor, “a homicide suspect who escaped while being transported to Phil [hospital].” The post also included a picture of Pryor.

Authorities added that the teenager may be traveling in a stolen Ford F-150 with Pennsylvania license plate “ZTS-0503.”

According to reports, the fugitive is “considered dangerous”. Philadelphia Police Departmentwho warned the public not to contact him.

Pryor is 5’7″ tall, weighs 180 lbs, and was last seen wearing blue sweatpants and a T-shirt, with no shoes, in the area of ​​University Avenue and Civic Center Boulevard, police said in twitter.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Pryor allegedly eluded his escort personnel at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday. Five minutes later, Pryor was seen in the lobby of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Hub for Clinical Collaboration building.

“As of 12:29 p.m., investigators believe Pryor received a ride from University City,” the agency said in a tweet that included surveillance footage teenager in the hospital.

Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner of Investigations Frank Vanore said during a press conference Wednesday that Pryor was in custody for the 2020 murder, ABC News reported. He was being held at the Juvenile Justice Center on felony, conspiracy and firearms charges.

Before fleeing the health facility on Wednesday, he was seen going from building to building trying to use the phones. Prison staff escorted him to Children’s Hospital unshackled for treatment of an arm injury before the escape, ABC News reports.

“As the male exited the car, he was able to elude staff and flee the area on foot,” Vanore told reporters.

“We are searching the buildings. We haven’t found the person yet. We are looking for garages that are very, very large. And in this case, we need the public’s help,” continued Vanore.

Police said they do not believe Pryor has a weapon, NBC Philadelphia reports.

“Just surrender so it doesn’t get worse than it has to be… mom fights for you, I’ll always fight for you,” the teenager’s mother, reports 6ABC. Pryor’s mom did not want to be publicly identified.

Pryor’s attorney, Paul DiMaio, told NBC Philadelphia that his client maintains his innocence. “I just think the kid’s scared. The judge denying the decertification could be the reason he ran because he’s always maintained his innocence,” DiMaio explained.

The US Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the fugitive. Anyone with information can call tips at 1-877-WANTED-2.
