Mark Harmon will be there to help introduce the backstory of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

The actor, 73, who played Gibbs on NCIS from 2003 to 2021, will appear in the next installment of the crime-fighting franchise.

According to TVLine and Deadline, NCIS: Origins Series co-showrunner David J. North revealed during a panel discussion with reporters on Thursday, September 19, that Harmon will make a brief appearance on the series premiere on Monday, October 14, in addition to narrating the series and serving as one of its executive producers.

While North did not reveal any additional details about Harmon’s on-screen appearance, he did not rule out the possibility of Harmon appearing in future episodes. “We’re focused on him telling the story from 1991. As for Mark coming back, we’re open to anything,” North said.
