Chris Evans returns to the MCU in Deadpool vs. Wolverine as Johnny Storm — not Captain America. While the character is interesting, I didn’t like the key choice.
The Fantastic Four’s MCU Costumes: Comic Inspiration and Changes
MCU suits have changed a lot compared to concept art
When the MCU’s Fantastic Four cast was announced, Marvel released official concept art of the team, featuring Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and Ben Grimm all wearing blue Fantastic Four suits. There are some white elements in the costumes, as the collars and boots of the Fantastic Four are white, breaking up the main blue color of the suits. In the center, the MCU’s Fantastic Four logo is also composed of a white circle and a blue 4.
Judging by the costume worn by Joseph Quinn’s new Marvel character Johnny Storm, the MCU’s Fantastic Four suits are more white. The upper arms of the suit are completely white, extending from the sleeves of the Human Torch to the collar. Quinn’s Johnny Storm also wears black and white gloves. The Fantastic Four logo on his chest is still predominantly white, but now has a smaller blue circle in the middle of the larger white circle. The blue pants remain the same, and Johnny’s boots are not visible.
The new white and blue Fantastic Four suits appear to be a nod to the John Byrne era of the Marvel Comics team. For the first time, the Fantastic Four don white and blue suits instead of the classic black and blue costumes. That being said, the suits in the Marvel Universe are not exactly the same. In the comics, there is no white on the sleeves and the collar is rounded. This design of the Fantastic Four costume was used in the 1960s when Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps occur.
Fantastic Four (2025)
Marvel’s Fantastic Four is the first MCU film in which the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s First Family appears in a live-action universe alongside The Avengers. It introduces the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s versions of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm, and serves as a forerunner to Phase Six’s Avengers: Reign of Kang and Avengers: Secret Wars.
