Henry, the school diary and math quizzes – STORY TIME!
Henry is a 25 year old software engineer who works in a famous company and earns a decent salary. All his life, he was extremely diligent and achieved excellent results in his studies. When he went to school, he was one of the teachers’ favorites. However, by the school’s elementary standards, he struggled with math. Who cares? He worked hard on this topic, honed his skills and became a successful software engineer today!
Well, that’s not what we’re trying to point out. Today, when he was about to clean out his wardrobe, he accidentally found a diary with the name of his school. When he opened it, he saw his name written on it in a child’s handwriting.

Everything was fine until he flipped through the pages. On the first page, he finds a sketch of his favorite cartoon from childhood. Henry was certainly very good at drawing when he was in school, but he can’t remember exactly when he drew this sketch. On another page, the guy found some random scribbles that he hadn’t noticed. On the third page, there is something really interesting but amazing.
On the third page he wrote,
“Whether I’m 10 or 25, I’ll never solve these HARD math puzzles.”
The announcement sent Henry into a state of shock. Perhaps when he wrote this quote, he might have been a 10-year-old. However, does this mean that 10-year-old Henry really defied today’s Henry? This sounds strange and even a little scary!
Henry immediately flipped through the pages and found some math puzzles written on them.

Susan installed a bunch of new faucets in her home. However, the speed of the two faucets is different. The hot water faucet installed by Susan fills the tub at a set rate of 15 liters per minute. On the other hand, the cold faucet in Susan’s bathroom discharges water at a fixed rate of 10 liters per minute. If we talk about the outlet, it also allows the water to drain out of the tub at a certain rate, i.e. 12 liters per minute.
Now the bathtub can hold up to 520 liters.
If one fine day, Susan turned on the hot and cold taps, but somehow left the lid on, how many minutes would it take for the tub to actually overflow?

Now water comes in at a rate of 25 liters per minute. (How? Well, 15 plus 10 is 25.)
Furthermore, the opening of the lid can be emptied at a rate of 12 liters per minute.
As a result, the bath is filled at a rate of 13 liters per minute. (How? Well, 12 minus 25 is 13.)
Now the bathtub has 520 liters of water.
