Mauricio Umansky Says Wife Kyle Richards Is Excited for His ‘DWTS’ Run as She Tours Paris with Pal Morgan Wade

Mauricio Umansky’s family couldn’t be more excited about the next step he’s taking — into the ballroom!

The Buying Beverly Hills the star stopped by Good morning America on Wednesday together with his colleagues from season 32 Dancing with the stars. Confirming that he told Kyle Richards and their daughters about the casting before the big news broke, Umansky reflected on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member as his “wife” amid their separation.

“They were so excited,” Umansky, 53, said of his family. “My girlfriends, my wife, they’ll all be there [to see me dance]. And we’ll have a good time.”

It was discovered on GMA On Wednesday, Umansky will team up with professional dancer Emma Slater for the upcoming season of the ABC competition show. She joins an all-star crowd that includes actress Alyson Hannigan, singer Jason Mraz, actress Mira Sorvino, supermodel Tyson Beckford and former Bachelor star Charity Lawson.

However, news of Umansky’s casting comes two months after PEOPLE confirmed his split from the 54-year-old Halloween is ending actress, who took to her Instagram Story to share a video of herself in Paris with pal Morgan Wade – Richards’ once-rumored love affair – at the time GMA segment before finally announcing the tribute to Umanski.

In July, a source close to Richards and Umansky told PEOPLE that the couple “have been separated for some time, but still live under the same roof.” The insider added that the couple “remained amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”

Speaking later about the upheaval in their relationship, Umansky and Richards — who have been married since 1996 — confirmed that they had “had a rough year” but said that “all claims of a divorce are untrue.”

“There was no wrongdoing on anyone’s part,” their joint statement continued. “Even though we are in the public eye, we ask that we be able to address our issues privately. While it may be fun to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit into a further corrupt narrative.”

Richards has since said that it was “really hard” to get over her split because “she’s playing with so many people watching.” She added that it was “too much to deal with at the moment”.

Season 32 of Dancing with the stars premieres September 26 on ABC and will air on Disney+ and Hulu.
