Meghan Trainor and Jimmy Fallon Perform Holiday Duet ‘Wrap Me Up’ for First Time on Jimmy Kimmel Live

It’s a talk show host crossover — with Meghan Trainor in the mix!

The Grammy-winning pop star and Jimmy Fallon teamed up to debut their new Christmas duet “Wrap Me Up” on Monday’s episode Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Trainor, 29, wore an ultra-formal bright red dress adorned with photos of her and husband Daryl Sabara’s sons Riley, 2½, and Barry, 4 months, as well as a Christmas tree, hearts and snowflakes. Fallon (49) completed her look with a red velvet suit.

The pair performed their comical holiday song with several festively dressed backing singers and a set filled with fake Christmas trees and wrapped presents — a nod to the lyrics of “Wrap Me Up” comparing the presence of a loved one to a gift.

“Come on and wrap me up / Wrap me up, baby / Give me a pretty list / I know you’ve been waiting / Yeah, I’m a pretty gift / And I know how to rock it,” Trainor sings on the song’s chorus.

Throughout the song, the two singers sing flirtatious call-and-response lyrics, with Fallon wanting to know what he’s getting for Christmas and Trainor cheekily refusing to tell him.

“Is it a drone? Not / A new razor? No-uh / Is that a fancy manscaper with a laser? Uh-uh / Maserati? Bugatti? Not / Man, I thought I had it / Oh no, honey, you’re watching it,” they sing in the pre-chorus.

Following the release of “Wrap Me Up” earlier this month, Fallon took to Instagram on Monday and shared a video of himself explaining how the duet came to be.

“Meghan Trainor was a great friend of our show and a great friend of mine and we all remember how at one point she fell and I laid down next to her on the show,” the comedian said, recalling when the singer fell during her performance of her single “Me Too.” from 2016 Tonight’s show.

“But she’s a great sport and I loved her before that, but I just love that she went with it,” Fallon added, referring to the viral moment. “I say, ‘Do you want to do it again?’ She says, ‘No. I want you to keep it and show everybody that I’m not perfect’ and I just love that.”

Former SNL the star continued, “We’ve always wanted to do something together, and I said, ‘I have this idea called “Wrap Up,” like wrapping a Christmas present.'”

Fallon then played the first, self-described “embarrassing” clip he sent to Trainor, in which he mumbles his way through the tune with the lyrics to “Wrap it up.”

“I didn’t answer right away, believe it or not,” he joked. “Eventually she got back to me and said, ‘Jimmy, I like the idea, but here’s what I’ve been working on.'”

He recalled the idea that Trainor had sent, which is more like the final song. “We kept track of each other’s time and wrote a song in an hour and a half,” Fallon said. “I think it turned out to be a really great song. I love it, so enjoy it.”
