Michelle Williams Could Win a Grammy for Narrating Britney Spears’ ‘The Woman in Me’ Audiobook

Britney Spears’ The woman in me could help Michelle Williams get closer to EGOT status.

The 41-year-old “Toxic” singer’s bombshell memoir was released Tuesday, with Williams, 43, narrating the audiobook version, making her eligible for a Grammy nomination — and fans are already hoping she wins.

Williams recording The woman in me meets the criteria for Best Audio Book, Narration and Narration Recording at the Grammys, an award won by Viola Davis, Michelle Obama, Carrie Fisher, Joan Rivers and Stephen Colbert, among other performers.

In the audiobook, Spears gives a spoken introduction before Williams reads the rest. It’s unclear if Spears could also win a Grammy for her contribution.

After the book was released earlier this week, some listeners quickly took to social media to express their hope that Williams would earn accolades from the Recording Academy for her performance. “We better get a Grammy for Michelle Williams #ZenaUMeni because she is KILLING this read,” wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user.

The Brokeback Mountain star — who currently has an Emmy but will need a Grammy, Oscar and Tony to reach EGOT status — also went viral earlier this week for her reading of a passage in which Spears writes about watching Justin Timberlake try to impress Ginuwine in New York sometime in the early 2000s -them.

In the process of narrating the chapter, Williams did an impression of Timberlake that left fans buzzing.

“His band *NSYNC back then was what people called ‘so pimp.’ They were white, but they loved hip-hop. To me, that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who very consciously positioned themselves as a white group,” Spears wrote. “*NSYNC hung out with black artists. Sometimes I thought they tried too hard to fit in.”

“One day J and I were in New York, going to parts of the city I’d never been to before. A guy with a huge locket with flashes was walking our way. He was flanked by two huge security guards,” she added before Williams moved on to interpret.

“J got all excited and said so loud, ‘Oh yeah, fo’ shiz fo’ shiz, Ginuwine, what’s up, mate?” After Ginuwine left, Felicia [Spears’ assistant] made an impression on J … J was not even embarrassed. He just took it and looked at it like, ‘OK, fuck you Fe.'”

When the five-Oscar-nominated actress was announced as the narrator of Spears’ book earlier this month, the “…Baby One More Time” singer released a statement to PEOPLE about the casting.

“This book is a product of love and all the emotions that come with it,” Spears said at the time. “Reliving it all was exciting, heartbreaking and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small portion of my audiobook.”
