A two-week training program for teachers
Teacher Training Programme: Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, today launched the Malaviya Mission: Teacher Training Program at Kaushal Bhawan. This program is maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Education. Under this program, more than 15 million teachers will be trained in the country in two weeks.
UGC has launched a separate portal: mmc.ugc.ac.in for registration purposes. Teachers can apply for capacity building programs here.
9 topics to transform education in a 2-week online course
Nine topics will be covered during the two-week online course, including holistic and multidisciplinary education, Indian Knowledge Systems (ICS), academic leadership, governance and management, higher education and society, research and development, skill development, student diversity and inclusive education, and information and communication technology.
Additionally, he said the human resource development center will now be called Madan Mohan Malaviya Teacher Training Centers. He placed strong emphasis on raising teaching standards and teacher skill levels to improve the quality of education.
The minister said: “Social transformation can only be led through the development of education.” Thematic trainings provided under the program will help in enthralling ‘Samagrata’ (completeness).” He added that teachers should learn all their lives because this will contribute to the overall development of their students.
Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, UGC, spoke about how teacher training centers help faculty members in higher education to develop their capabilities.
He said, “The program will provide training related to pedagogy and enhance the skills of faculty members. While ensuring holistic development of teachers and students, it will also inculcate the ethics and human values enshrined in Indian culture. The goal of the training program is also to motivate teachers to undertake quality research in accordance with local, national and global needs.”
