Neetu Pandey was born on Wednesday, November 28, 1979, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (44 years; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Sagittarius. She was hooked on acting at a young age. When she grew up, she dreamed of becoming an actress. She got married when she was 17, when she was in Grade 11, but continued to live with her parents. Her family follows the tradition of ‘Gohna’ where the bride returns to her parents’ home after her marriage and stays there till a time decided by both parties. She completed her 12th grade and moved to her in-laws’ house.
She married into a large family of seven or eight people and was busy taking care of the housework. Soon she had a daughter. While raising her daughter, she completed her graduation from the correspondence course from Kanpur University (now CSJM University). In 2008, she moved to Mumbai. She started to enter the entertainment industry in 2002. Before that, she was a teacher. She began working as a teacher when her daughter entered school at the age of three. Every day on her way home from school, she would visit Batendu Nadia Academy (BNA), a drama school in Lucknow. One day she visited BNA and attended a summer workshop to study acting and drama. Her classes used to be in the evening, from 3 to 6 p.m. Neetu’s conservative in-laws were unaware of her dream of pursuing an acting career. She said in an interview that her sister-in-law Poonam supported her at every stage. Poonam and Neetu lied to their in-laws that they were going to attend evening computer classes, when in fact, Poonam and Neetu visited BNA together. However, Poonam and Neetu’s lie lasted only for a month. After this, their parents-in-law found out that Neetu was attending an acting workshop and banned her from attending. Neetu convinced them to let her attend this workshop as she had already attended half of it. Her first play was Habib Tanvir’s Charandas Chor, in which she played the role of the Queen. Initially, she was cast as “Darcy” (the queen’s lady-in-waiting), but the woman who was supposed to play the queen’s role went on a business trip, giving Neetu a chance to play the lead role. While working as a theater artist, she started working in Doordarshan where she was a B-grade artist. She has hosted 3-4 shows for Doordarshan like Krishi Darshan. She also hosts ETV’s show Salaam UP. On December 24, 2008, she moved with her friends to Mumbai, the center of India’s entertainment industry, to seek better opportunities. On December 27, 2008, she had her first shoot in Mumbai. She got this opportunity through a coordinator named Saurabh Sharma. She began her career as a television actress, playing a doctor on the show. In an interview, she mentioned that she got a check for Rs 4,000 after the shoot and immediately used part of it to buy a small temple for Rs 350. Before this, she auditioned at Vishal Kapoor’s office but had no luck. Since then, she has played various small roles in many TV series. At that time, her daily income was 1,500-2,000.
