NEXT Exam highlights
NExT 2024: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has announced that the National Exit Exam (NExT) will be held from 2024. According to the information shared, the NExT will replace the MBBS exam of the year. and the National Graduate Entrance Examination (NEET). PG) entrance exam. It will serve as a qualification exam for granting admission to doctors, as well as the basis for allocating a place in graduate study.
It was previously assumed that the National Health Commission would implement NExT. However, according to the latest updates, AIIMS Delhi will conduct an exam to test both the clinical and practical knowledge of the students. NEXT 2024: What are the important highlights
NExT 2024 participants can check out the important exam-related highlights below:
- NEET PG 2024 which will be held from January to March will be the final entrance exam for medical PG courses. Eligibility is limited to series before 2019
- NExT – 1 will be conducted in May 2024 for the 2019 series
- For installments prior to 2019, they have the option to join NExT – 1 in May 2024. However, the consultation process for PG courses will be held one year later, in June 2025, after upon completion of NExT – 2 for the 2019 batch. Pre-2019 batches are not required to appear for NExT – 2
- NExT – 1 will be conducted twice a year as INICET (May and November). So from June 2025 onwards, 2 PG series will come out in 1 year.
NEXT 2024: About the exam
The National Exit Examination (NExT) will be conducted for admission to postgraduate medical courses. It is a mandatory licensing exam for undergraduate medical students to practice in India. MBBS qualified applicants from India or abroad will have to pass an exam to register with the Medical Council of India. The exam will be computer-based twice a year: in May and November.
MBBS 2019 students will be the first batch to qualify for the NMC NExT exam. The exam will be held in two steps – Steps 1 and 2. In total there will be 6 subjects in Step 1 and 7 in Step 2 for NExT MBBS. No clarity was provided regarding the initiation of the test. The exam organizer is expected to make an official announcement about the NExT date soon.
NExT mock test and sample exam
According to the information shared by NMC, the mock test will be available on July 28. Registration for the NExT Practice/Practice Test will begin on July 28. The purpose of the mock test is to test familiarize students with the computer-based test (CBT). They will have an idea of how the software interface works and the process in the test center.
According to the NExT exam model, there will be 6 subjects in Step 1 and 7 subjects in Step 2. Candidates must pass Step 1 and complete a mandatory internship to be eligible for Step 2. NExT Step 1 will is a theory test intended to test in-depth knowledge. understanding of a particular topic while step 2 will be a practice exam.
Who can apply for NExT 2024?
Those who wish to apply for the NExT exam can check the eligibility criteria:
- All undergraduate medical students enrolled in MBBS programs at medical colleges approved by the National Health Commission (NMC). These approvals are issued by the Medical Review and Evaluation Council as well as the Higher Medical Education Council.
- All foreign medical graduates are approved by the NMC. This approval is required to obtain a license to practice medicine as a registered medical practitioner in India and to enter the state or national registry. The specific method for this process will be determined by the regulations.
- Those who hold a medical degree and wish to pursue a course, observation, or any other purpose approved by the NMC and determined by notice or regulation from time to time.
