Nickelodeon Hosts Mike O'Malley and Kirk Fogg Confirm They Completed the Challenges on Their Shows

Nickelodeon anchors Mike O’Malley and Kirk Fogg were masters of their own games — with small advantages.

Speaking of their comeback games Nickelodeon Guts and Legends of the hidden temple at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Friday, September 13, O’Malley and Fogg said they personally tackled the ultimate challenges that twelve-year-old contestants famously faced at the end of each competition episode .

For O’Malley, 57, that came in the form of climbing Intestines‘ mountain Aggro Crag. Competitors had to complete the challenge mostly in the dark because different elements were thrown on the way to the top.

“That being said, I haven’t gone through it with all the effects,” the Emmy nominee said. “The children had glasses … and [the effects] the boys were pranksters, throwing styrofoam rocks.”

“They had to perform with nuclear flying crystals – you can only imagine how toxic that was,” joked O’Malley. “For children in the dark, with googles on, fog, smoke, confetti. I didn’t do it that way… We asked for a lot [the contestants]. You can imagine how much, as an adult, you lose focus.”

The host, 64, did his own screening during the show’s first season in 1993, but “all doors were open,” Fogg admitted.

“You had to watch your head,” he continued, noting that he was a little taller than the average 12-year-old. “I wore a helmet. I wanted to make sure every season I could get in and out in 3 minutes, and I did.”
