Nneka Ihim Confirms Departure from The Real Housewives of Potomac After 1 Season (Exclusive)

Nneka will not officially be a part of them The Real Housewives of Potomacthe upcoming ninth season.

The 36-year-old attorney and entrepreneur — who famously boasted in her first episode, “I’m coming in just the way I am and who I am, baby, it’s amazing” — is leaving the Bravo reality series after one season, becoming the third cast member to leave the series since the end of 8 . season.

“I will not be back for season 9 RHOP“, she told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement, amid rumors of her departure.

Her release comes as the Potomac resident continues her journey to have a baby.

“At this point, after multiple failed infertility procedures, I decided to make expanding my family my ultimate priority,” says Nneka. “Thank you to the fans who have supported me on this journey this season, especially regarding my difficult journey through IUI-turned-IVF, and the stigma surrounding infertility. All the kind comments have truly encouraged me and fueled my determination to continue sharing my story .”

She goes on to express her “sincere gratitude to Bravo and Truly Original for the opportunity” and notes that she has “built lifelong friendships with some amazing women through this experience.”

“As a true resident of Potomac, 20854, just know I’ll be seeing you again soon,” she says.

A first-generation Nigerian-American, Nneka grew up in Wisconsin and received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin. She continued to train in Los Angeles for almost 10 years.

While there, Nneka met her current husband, Dr. Ikenn Ihim. The two married in 2021 and moved to Potomac (or as Karen Huger called it, North Potomac) before joining the show in season eight.

As viewers saw, the couple was on their way to expanding their family. “I’ve been trying to get pregnant for the last few months and we haven’t been able to,” she told her Potomac Housewives co-stars in an episode that aired back in December, noting, “I’d love twins, a boy and a girl, let’s get it over with.”

In the third part of the meeting, which was broadcast on April 14, Nneka revealed that the intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedure was documented for RHOP the cameras “gave no results”.

The couple is now trying in vitro fertilization (IVF). “All these ladies have been incredibly supportive,” Nneka told host i RHOP executive producer Andy Cohen at the reunion.

As she goes down that path, Nneka has a lot to occupy herself outside housewives.

She works as an in-house recruitment consultant for a global financial technology company, founded her own liquor company (Bido), runs a non-profit organization called A Life of Lux, and led the development of a dating/social networking app called Hello Africa.

On RHOP, Nneka had an argument with fellow Nigerian housewife Dr. Wendy Osefo. Unfortunately, the two were unable to patch things up by the end of the reunion.

Both Dillard Bassett, 37, and Dixon, 45, announced their exits from the show, with Dillard Bassett telling PEOPLE on March 25 that she was leaving on her own terms, and Dixon revealing on the April 15 episode of her podcast that she was fired.
