Notting Hill carnival tragedy as mum, 32, stabbed in front of toddler & top chef, 44, die days after separate attacks

A MUM and a top chef who worked with Gordon Ramsey have both died after separate attacks at Notting Hill Carnival.

Cher Maximen (32) and Mussie Imnetu (41) were rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to their injuries a few days later.

Cher was enjoying a “family day out” but came to the rescue after a fight broke out and was stabbed in the leg, it is claimed.

The incident happened in front of her three-year-old daughter.

She was rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries, but unfortunately died today.

Mussie, meanwhile, suffered catastrophic brain injuries, bleeding on the brain and multiple cardiac arrests.

He was found outside the Dr Power restaurant in Queensway at 11.22pm on Monday (August 26).

The officers provided first aid until the ambulance arrived.

He was taken to a west London hospital where, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he died on Friday.

He was visiting Great Britain from Dubai where he lived and worked.

‘IT’S HEARTBREAKING’

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “It is heartbreaking that Cher Maximen and Mussie Imnetu have died after being attacked in separate incidents over the bank holiday weekend.

“My thoughts are with their families and friends at this truly terrible time.

“This violence is shocking, completely unacceptable and represents a betrayal of the values ​​for which the carnival was founded.

“Thanks to the efforts of our hardworking police, a 20-year-old and a 31-year-old have already been charged.

Organizers of Notting Hill Carnival said: “Notting Hill Carnival is shocked by these tragic deaths and our thoughts are with the families of the victims and the local community as a whole, which, like so many others, has too often suffered at the hands of violent crime.

“We stand together against all violence and condemn these acts, which are against all carnival values ​​and the millions of people who come to celebrate them.”

The three brothers appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday following the horror in Cher on August 25.

Shakiel Thibou, 20, who has been charged with attempted murder, allegedly tried to stab his intended victim while armed with a “Rambo-style knife”, it has been claimed.

He was then accused of stabbing his mother – causing her to go into cardiac arrest.

JPs heard she lost 20 liters of blood in the horrific attack and suffered a collapsed lung before being placed in an induced coma.

Thibou, who is also charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, claims he was assaulted.

His brothers Sheldon Thibou (24) and Shaeim Thibou (22) also appeared on the dock with him.

Both are charged with violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker, while Sheldon faces an additional charge of possession of a stun gun.

The court was told all three brothers were involved in the horror but only Shakiel Thibou carried out the stabbing.

Prosecutors say they attended the carnival with the intent to injure the victim.

The trio were remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on September 25.

Omar Wilson, 31, of Leytonstone, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. regarding Mussie’s death.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on September 27.

In light of Mussie’s death, the offense will be reviewed in conjunction with the Crown Prosecution Service.

More than 200 people were arrested over the Carnival weekend for alleged crimes ranging from sexual offenses to theft and assault.

About 50 people were arrested for possession of assault weapons, and one for possession of firearms.

Scotland Yard said 35 Met officers were injured while guarding the carnival.

Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila of the Met’s Homicide Squad, who is leading the investigation into Cheri’s death, said: “My thoughts are with Cheri’s loved ones as they come to terms with this terrible loss.

“They are supported by specialist officers and we will ensure that this support continues.

“Cher was at the carnival with her young child. We have been in close contact with our local authority partners and Cher’s family shortly after this incident to make sure the child is safe and cared for.”

Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation from the Met’s Homicide Command, said: “Mussie’s family, friends and colleagues in London, Dubai, Sweden and Eritrea are heartbroken after receiving the worst imaginable news – our thoughts are with them and they are supported by specialist officers.

“Our investigation is well advanced but we are still very keen to hear from anyone who can help piece together Mussie’s movements between 1pm when we know he left The Arts Club in Dover Street, W1 and when he arrived at the Dr Power restaurant, in Queensway at 10:30 p.m.

“If you visited the restaurant between 10pm and 11.30pm on Monday night or were in the area and saw something, regardless of the reason you were there, please get in touch.

“Our focus is on what happened to Mussie. Did you talk to him at the restaurant or do you have any pictures or videos between those times that could help the investigation? The attack happened around 11:20 p.m. Customers in the bar tried to help stop the attack; we need to talk to these people and I urge them to contact us.”

The carnival is Europe’s biggest street party, and organizers call it “the biggest community-led event on the planet”.

Around one million people attended over the bank holiday weekend, with around 7,000 officers on duty during the celebrations.

The annual celebration of Caribbean heritage, arts and culture has been held for more than 50 years.
