These incredible photos that will make you look twice were photographed by the eagle-eyed Roan du Plessis.
Roan, from Hoedspruit, South Africa, said: “It’s amazing to see how well some of these animals can blend in.
“We hear this particular owl a lot, but it’s very difficult to find and see because of its camouflage.”
At first glance, it may seem that the photographer made a mistake and missed the subject.

But if you look closely, you might notice an owl that has blended in with its surroundings.
Barn owls are colored in various shades of brown, sometimes with a lighter underside or face.
The shade of their feathers helps them camouflage against the bark of trees.
Camouflage helps owls remain undetected by predators and potential prey.
And it limits disturbance from other birds, which owls often see as a threat and will dive on them to drive them away.
It is incredibly difficult to spot an owl with the naked eye, but give it your best shot.
