Dakota Johnson and I have at least two things in common: bangs and a passion for sleep.
It’s in December Madame Web star said that sleep is her “number one priority” in life and I’m right there with her. After years of fine-tuning my routine, I sleep about nine and a half hours every night – but not without effort.
My recipe for rest begins hours before my head hits the pillow, around sunset. After dark, I try to limit my exposure to stimulating artificial light, especially the blue light emitted by screens. I have salt lamp night lights that emit a soothing glow, and I set my smart lights to amber or red. It makes a huge difference in relaxing my body and mind from a busy day into a relaxing state that helps me fall asleep more easily.
When it’s time to drift off to sleep, I put on the Asutra Silk Weighted Sleep Mask, which I discovered last year on Oprah’s annual Favorite Things list. I was intrigued by the weight element of the mask, and I had just left a sleeping mask at the hotel, so I needed a replacement. Plus, Oprah said she “stays down and doesn’t let in a single ounce of light.”

I knew from the first night that this mask would be a new essential for my sleep routine. As Oprah claimed, not a glimmer of light seeped in and it stayed on all night, unlike most sleeping masks I’ve tried. I found the gentle weight soothing and illuminated me like a light.

The silk material is soft on the skin, but tough enough to withstand tossing and turning, and is machine washable. The weight inside is filled with flax and lavender seeds that exude a light, relaxing scent. I have happily slept with him every night for over four months now.
And I’m not the only one happy with Oprah’s recommendation: 2,300+ customers gave the sleeping mask a perfect five-star rating. If you don’t already sleep with an eye mask, try it. Oprah said it was “life-changing,” adding, “I can’t tell you how much the quality of my sleep has improved.”

Blue light blocking glasses are an easy way to reduce the amount of sleep-disrupting light that comes with watching TV, working late or scrolling on the phone. Whenever I put mine on, I immediately feel the tension in my forehead loosen and my eyes feel less strained. They’re good to wear, they help me relax and probably keep me away.
I love the aviator style of this rimless pair, which looks more modern than the old BluBlockers I grew up seeing at the rotating glasses kiosk at Walgreens.

Ever since I discovered the power of manipulating my body with light, I also use it to wake up. I was sent a review unit of the Hatch Restore 2, a smart alarm clock with a variety of sound and light features, including a sunrise alarm. When I hear him speak, I take off my eye mask and my room is bright, prompting me to get up on schedule.
As we passionate dream lovers say, today started last night. Experience tomorrow tonight with some of my favorite sleep products, all available on Amazon.
