Ozzy Osbourne Calls Out Kanye West for Using ‘War Pigs’ Sample Without Permission for Single ‘Talking / Once Again’

Ozzy Osbourne just called out Kanye West.

The rock star, 75, shared in a since-deleted Instagram post that West sampled his music without his permission. West, 46, sampled a live performance of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” for his new single “Talking / Once Again.”

In an Instagram post on Friday, Osbourne wrote in all caps in the caption and screenshot the text that read: “@KAYNEWEST ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE [SECTION] ‘WAR PIG’ LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM THE 1983 US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS.”

“HE WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS ANTI-SEMITE AND HAS CAUSED MANY UNSPEAKABLE PAIN,” the Black Sabbath singer continued. “HE OBVIOUSLY USED THE SAMPLE AT HIS ALBUM PLAYING PARTY LAST NIGHT.”

Osbourne concluded: “I DON’T WANT ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”

The “Iron Man” artist was referring to Thursday night’s single release party at the United Center in Chicago. “Talking / Once Again,” a collaboration with rapper Ty Dolla $ign, also features You the rapper’s older daughter, North, 10, and is speculated to be a track on his upcoming album Vultures. The LP was supposed to be released on Friday, but at the time of publication it had not yet been released.

Osbourne’s claims follow the rapper’s controversies over bullying and anti-Semitic comments in previous years.

Kanye West apologizes in Hebrew amid repeated anti-Semitic comments

In October 2022, West shared a screenshot of a text exchange between himself and Diddy in a now-deleted Instagram post. The text screenshot reportedly shows West claiming that Combs is controlled by Jews. “Jesus is Jewish,” he wrote in the headline, according to NBC News.

In the now-deleted message, West wrote that he was going to “death con 3 against JEWS,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) called out the “Bound 2” artist’s language for perpetuating “anti-Semitic tropes like greed and control,” writing in a statement: “Kanye West should figure out how to make a point without using anti-Semitism. Over the last week, the musician has been fueling hate according to the Jews.”

Recently, in November 2023, West suddenly performed his new song “Vultures” in Dubai. Instagram Stories of the performance showed him rapping offensive lyrics from the song such as: “How am I anti-Semitic? I just fucked a Jewish bitch.”

Two weeks later, West publicly apologized in Hebrew. “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for my unplanned outbursts caused by my words or actions, it was not my intention to hurt or belittle and I deeply regret any pain I have caused,” read his statement, which was shared by Instagram. (and translated into English).

“I am determined to start with myself and learn from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future,” West continued. He added that “it is important for me to be forgiven” and that he is “committed to repairing the damage and promoting unity.”
