Phillip Schofield threatens to expose former co-workers after admitting he was ‘thrown under a bus’ for affair scandal

PHILLIP Schofield has threatened to expose his former associates after he said he was ‘thrown under the bus’.

The TV star has returned to television after a 16-month break after admitting to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a young runner.

As the second episode of Cast Away aired on Channel 5, Phil spoke of being ‘thrown under the bus’ by people he worked with during the scandal.

Speaking to the camera, he said: “People just left, who I thought were my friends and they just left and it’s like ‘what the hell’.”

He continued: “I threw myself under the bus and I could drive the same bus over so many people, but I’m not that kind of person, never have been.”

“But if I sit down with the camera and the lights are on, who knows what I’ll say.”

Later in the second episode of the three-part series, Phil said: “Of course I miss parts of TV.

“I miss most of it, if I’m honest, I miss most of it.

“But there are parts that I really, really, really don’t miss.

“You learn a lot about people, I don’t miss that.”

Phil blames his brother for being “fired” from his lucrative This Morning and Dancing on Ice gigs.

In April 2023, Timothy Schofield was convicted of 11 sexual offenses involving a child – including emotionally blackmailing a child into a sexual act.

However, according to The Mirror, ITV insiders strongly refute the claims, saying: “Phillip’s new comment is simply untrue, he is lying again.”

Cast Away verdict

OVER three nights – and three one-hour episodes – Phillip Schofield bore his soul in Channel 5’s new show Cast Away.

And it’s actually an opportunity for the former host of This Morning to explain the circumstances that led him to leave the show last year.

To put it mildly, he went under a cloud, admitting that he had a relationship with a much younger runner from the program. But in the C5 show, he presents his own version of events – one that contradicts the emerging narrative at the time.

He is portrayed as a man who had an “unwise” affair, who resigned as a result and let many of his colleagues down.

But in Cast Away, Philip insists he was fired from ITV, not because of the affair, but because of the bad publicity surrounding his pedophile brother’s crimes. He summed it up best when he said he was “thrown under the bus”.

However, after watching Cast Away what you are left with is something quite confusing.

Did Philip think he did something wrong by falling in love with a runner or didn’t he? For example, he said that he wouldn’t have been spat on as much if it had been a heterosexual relationship.

He said he would: “get a pat on the back if he had an affair with a woman.” This means that the only thing wrong was that it was a same-sex love affair. So why does he also say: “I will be sorry forever. I screwed up. I was wrong.”

The answer, I suppose, is that the whole affair was a murky affair. There were so many blurred lines around appropriateness, professionalism and honesty.

The only solid conclusion you can draw from the series is that Phillip himself isn’t ENTIRELY sure of the extent to which he was guilty of wrongdoing.

In the midst of this confusion, what will the audience think? I suspect this will make those who disliked Phillip even more suspicious of him.

Those who supported him will also understand. But those still unsure of what to think will be none the wiser – and I’m not sure Phillip would want that.
