Phoebe Dynevor Says She Was ‘Naïve’ to Think People Wouldn’t ‘Care’ About Her Dating Pete Davidson: ‘Very Surreal’

Phoebe Dynevor opens up about the lessons she learned dating a Hollywood star.

In a new headline interview for Ella published on Tuesday, Bridgerton actress, 28, reflected on her six-month relationship with Pete Davidson and the “very surreal” attention their romance has generated.

“It just goes back to naivety – I didn’t think anyone would care,” she admitted. “I was just a young woman and I was dating, and it kind of sparks a conversation. There were a lot of hard lessons I had to learn through really just private life.”

The couple first started dating in February 2021, although they weren’t publicly linked until March 2021 when the 29-year-old comedian was spotted in Manchester, England, where Dynevor is from. Then they dated until August of that year.

Their split came just over a month after they made their first public appearance together as a couple at Wimbledon.

Dynevor continued to share with Ella that the fascination with the duo’s relationship eventually changed the way she lived her daily life.

“You realize, ‘Oh, I can’t live my life the way I used to. I have to hold my cards a little closer to my chest,'” she admitted. “There was a time, for example, when I would post anything on my Instagram, and now I’m very, very careful about what I put out into the world.”

“This whole world that I opened up to was really scary,” she continued, adding that it was “super scary” to be photographed by the paparazzi when word got out about her romance with Davidson.

But, she says, focusing on her love life has also taught her to let things go more easily. “People will make whatever story they want out of a few pictures, that’s fine,” she said Ella. “I had to learn to let things go and let them wash over my head instead of the normal reaction, which is to say, ‘But that’s not true and that didn’t happen.'”

“You have to let it go and focus on the work. I’m really just here to act; I love my job very much and it was strange that the attention was being taken away from my work,” she added.

Dynevor, who played Daphne Bridgerton in the Netflix hit, is now dating actor Cameron Fuller. They were first spotted together in March, but didn’t spark romance rumors until April when they were photographed walking hand-in-hand during a date out in London.
