Piers Morgan tells Lorraine key point in ‘real Baby Reindeer stalker’ Fiona Harvey interview shows Netflix may have LIED – The Sun

PIERS Morgan has revealed to Lorraine Kelly how Netflix may have “lied” about Fiona Harvey’s alleged stalking of baby reindeer.

The Uncensored host appeared on ITV’s Lorraine this morning to discuss his 11 million-view interview with Fiona Harvey.

Internet sleuths quickly tracked down Fiona and identified her as the inspiration behind the obsessive stalking after Baby Reindeer launched last month.

But Fiona heavily disputed the events depicted in the Netflix mini-series during her conversation with Piers.

During the interview, the “real Martha” from the hit series Baby Reindeer told Piers that she is taking legal action against Richard Gadd and Netflix.

And Piers says Netflix’s claim that the series is a “true story” could be problematic.

The former GMB presenter said that while he believed Fiona had lied somewhat, he had seen no evidence that she was convicted of stalking as character Martha in the show.

Piers told Lorraine today: “She’s entitled to her opinion and she was happy to come on the show, I tried to be very fair and balanced and I tried to get at the truth.

“I think she lied in the interview, but is she a convicted stalker?

“The key point is that if it’s not, then Netflix’s claim at the beginning of every episode that says ‘this is a true story’ becomes problematic.

“Was she defamed? If you accuse someone of being a convicted stalker and they’re not, that’s a pretty serious allegation.

Piers added: “The key question is, after watching the show and my interview, is it actually a true story?

“Did she go to prison, was she convicted of stalking?

“As I sit here Lorraine so far there is no real evidence that she has ever been in court – so we have to wait and see.”

The Uncensored host also criticized how easy it was for detectives to trace messages online.

He said: “Internet detectives typed parts of the messages on her Twitter account and came up with the same phraseology.

What Fiona claims is true in the Baby Reindeer saga

Fiona Harvey – who claims to be the inspiration for the character Baby Reindeer Martha – says only a few things are true about the Netflix series.

The seven-part series, which premiered last month, was written by comedian Richard Gadd and is said to be based on his personal experiences of being stalked and sexually assaulted.

Gadd, 34, plays a fictionalized version of himself – Donnie Dunn – but Harvey, who was ‘outed’ by internet sleuths hours after the show was set, is adamant the story is “completely untrue”.

The 58-year-old law graduate said: “It’s a work of hyperbole, as I’ve always said. And there are two true facts about it. His name is Richard Gadd, and he works as a waiter on benefits, at the Hawley Arms and we met, two or three times…”

On whether she said it looked like a ‘baby reindeer’ toy she had as a child, she added: “I had a toy reindeer and he shaved his head, that’s true, and there were reindeer in the shops because it was Christmas time or something . That was a joke.

“So I accidentally wrote the name of the show.”

“I think they do [Netflix] they failed in their duty of care to Fiona.”

Fiona Harvey also denied any criminal conviction during an interview with the Uncensored host.

She said: “That is completely untrue. Very, very defamatory of me, very damaging to my career.

“And I wanted to completely dispel that on this show. I’m not a stalker.

“I was not in prison, I have no bans, bans. This is complete nonsense.”

If you missed the interview, you can catch up on the highlights, with Piers giving an in-depth interview to The Sun.

As I sit here so far, there’s no real evidence that she’s ever been in court – so we’ll have to wait and see.

At a moment near the end of the in-depth interview, Harvey looked into the camera and sent a message to Richard Gadd regarding the allegations against her.

She told him: “Leave me alone, please.

“Get a life. Get a decent job. I’m appalled at what you’ve done.”

Baby Reindeer has taken the world by storm since its release, with millions tuning in to follow the story of the comedian and his stalker.

It was written by comedian Gadd, who plays Donnie Dunn, a fictionalized version of himself, and stars the comedian, details the alleged ordeal, and Martha is played by Jessica Gunning.

SCARY STORY

In the show, the then struggling comedian, while working in a London bar, gives Martha a free cup of tea before things turn sinister.

The series claims it bombarded the bartender with more than 41,000 e-mails after that.

She also sent him hundreds of tweets and hours of voicemails, and even camped outside his house for days.

Martha then harasses his parents and ex, and attacks his girlfriend over an alleged four-year campaign of terror.

In Baby Reindeer, the character Martha often signs her emails as if they were sent from an iPhone – even though they are from her laptop – and they are misspelled in various ways.

Fiona is said to be the inspiration for the sinister Martha in the Netflix hit Baby Reindeer.

Fiona says she met him at the Hawley Arms pub in the city’s Camden and has received threats from fans after being linked to the character.

But despite fan speculation that Fiona’s side of the story could lead to a second series of the show, those close to star Richard have dismissed it.

Insiders said writer Gadd, 35, will step down from the series, which is about his real-life experience of being stalked.

A source explained: “There are no plans for Baby Reindeer to come back for more, or for Richard to talk about Fiona’s interview in any sequel.”
