In 2013, RS Praveen Kumar, an IPS officer and then secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Association of Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions, discovered her talent for mountaineering during an extra-curricular activity he launched to curb the high school dropout rate. She went to a climbing school in Bangir in Nalgonda district of Telangana over the weekend to train under coach Sekhar Babu Bachinepally. RS Praveen Kumar chose her and 19 other students to study high-altitude mountaineering at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling. After completing basic training in Darjeeling, she traveled to Ladakh to learn and practice mountaineering in high-altitude snow. She was selected to climb Mount Everest with her friend S Anand Kumar from Kamam and underwent 8 months of rigorous physical training under the guidance of head coach Sekhar Babu Bachinepally. During her training, she climbed the 17,000-foot Mount Lenok on Kanchenjunga to adapt to high-altitude climbing. At 6:00 am on May 25, 2014, together with her coach Sekhar Babu, friend Anand Kumar and several Sherpas, she climbed the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest, at 8,848 meters above sea level, after a 52-meter climb. days of exploration.
