The Kansas State Wildcats’ win over the North Carolina State Wolfpack got a little sweeter when the team got to eat the Pop-Tarts Bowl “edible mascot” during the postgame celebration.
After the team’s 28-19 victory in a college bowl game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., Thursday night, the giant Pop-Tarts mascot — named Strawberry — waved goodbye and held up a “Dreams Do Come True” sign before descending into an oversized toaster.
“RIP in peace,” said the announcer as they waited for the tasty treat to appear. “I can’t wait to eat you.”

Then a pop-tart with strawberry frosting came out from under while the ravenous football players waited for the toaster. Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson and head coach Chris Klieman were the first to take a bite, and the rest of the players quickly joined in as Donna Summer and Kyga’s “Hot Stuff” played.
A hilarious celebration – which also included the 25th ranked Kansas State running back got the Pop-Tarts trophy — went viral on social media.

CBS Miami sportscaster Mike Cugno also joined in on the fun, posting on x“The Pop Tart is literally running for its life #PopTartsBowl.”
“The Pop-Tarts mascot is having the best time tonight,” shared Pro Football Focus s x.
The official X account of the Pop-Tarts Bowl shared that the football players did not leave any of the treats behind Photography empty snack cans.
“Leave No Crumbs,” reads the photo’s caption.

Last month, Pop-Tarts announced that the company would bring the first “edible mascot” to a college bowl game.
“For sixty years, Pop-Tarts has sacrificed everything in the name of Crazy Good taste, so why not include our beloved football mascot?” said Heidi Ray, senior director of marketing, Pop-Tarts, in a statement.
