Pradeep Sarkar started his career as a Creative Director at Tulika, a small advertising agency. After several years at Tulika, he left the company to join Grant Kenyon & Eckhardt, an advertising agency, where he worked for 17 years, eventually becoming the company’s vice president. Thereafter, he left Grant Kenyon & Eckhardt and joined Kelvinator, where he directed his first commercial. Later, he joined Vinod Chopra Productions in Mumbai as an art creative director and directed many commercials. After the establishment of Wavelength Film Works Private Limited on October 3, 1997 and Apocalypso Filmworks Private Limited on November 7, 1997, Pradeep directed for several well-known brands such as Catch, Eveready, Haier, Hero MotoCorp, LG, LIC and Muthoot Finance. Pradeep Sarkar has directed music videos for many Hindi songs and albums, including Palash Sen’s Dhoom Pichak Dhoom (1998), Shubha Mudgal’s Ab Ke Sawan (1999), KS Chithra and Sultan Khan’s Piya Basanti (2000), and Euphoria and Maaeri Sen of Palash (2000). Pradeep Sarkar died on March 24, 2023, between 3:10 and 3:30 am at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai due to pneumonia due to lung infection. According to his wife, Pradeep developed viral fever on March 22, 2023, and despite following prescribed medications, his fever did not subside. Due to persistent fever, Pradeep was rushed to Lilavati Hospital on the morning of March 24, 2023. She further added that while Pradeep was on the way to the hospital, his vital signs started declining and his condition became serious. After arriving at the hospital, he was put on a ventilator; however, doctors were unable to save his life. In an interview, she said of the incident,
He died at Lilavati Hospital between 3.10 and 3.30 am. I developed a viral fever on March 22. The fever subsided after taking some medicines, but it did not subside completely. As a result, he was rushed to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital, his vital signs began to decline. He was put on a ventilator in the intensive care unit and diagnosed with pneumonia. The infection attacked his lungs. According to doctors, he suffered from many comorbidities that weakened his immunity. His blood pressure kept fluctuating. Since being infected with COVID-19 in July 2022, he has been very weak. “
His last rites were performed on March 24, 2023 at 4 pm at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium, Mumbai.
