Priyansh Vishwakarma was an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party who murdered a girl named Vidika Thakur in 2023 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He is the owner of Leela Group of Builders and Developers, headquartered in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Suspected of asking for dowry from wife
In 2016, Priyansh’s wife accused him of demanding dowry and physically abusing her. As a result, a case was registered against him at Barela police station in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The charges filed include sections 498-A and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (cruelty involving husband or his relatives), and Section 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act (prohibition of giving or receiving dowry).
Arrested for murder of Vedika Thakur
In 2023, Priyansh was detained for his alleged involvement in the murder of a girl named Vedika. The police registered a case against him at Sanjeevani Nagar police station, citing charges under Section 308 of the IPC, which deals with manslaughter not amounting to murder, and Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

On June 16, 2023, Priyansh allegedly shot at a woman named Vedika Thakur inside her office in Dhanvantari Nagar. The incident left Vedika seriously injured. Instead of seeking immediate medical attention, he drove around with Vaidika for about four hours. He eventually took her to Smart City Hospital for treatment but left the hospital with the pistol used in the shooting and CCTV footage of his office. He also contacted Vedika’s brother and informed him about the incident. On June 18, 2023, a video emerged in which Vedika Thakur admitted that Priyansh had shot her.

He was arrested by Narsinghpur district police on June 19, 2023. After his arrest, he admitted to shooting Vedika. He arrived at Dhanwantri Nagar police station wearing a black Scorpio car with the BJP flag. Initially, police did not register a case against him within 24 hours. However, the Sanjivani Nagar police station finally registered a case against Vedika after her relatives raised questions and concerns over the delay. The charges include Section 308 of the IPC, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

According to Vedika’s uncle Ashok Thakur, her condition initially showed signs of improvement after the incident. However, her condition worsened due to being shot in the back, causing the infection to spread throughout her body. As a result, Vedika underwent stomach surgery, and on June 24, 2023, doctors decided to put her on a ventilator. Unfortunately, her organs began to fail, and doctors pronounced her dead at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 26, 2023. Doctors mentioned that her organs were failing and they were unable to remove the bullet from her spinal cord.

After Vedika’s untimely death, the police upgraded the charges against Priyansh to murder. The police sent the bullet recovered from Vaidika’s body to the Forensic Science Laboratory.
After Priyansh Vishwakarma was arrested by police
Reacting to the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party issued an official statement refuting claims that Priyansh was associated with the party. Prabhat Sahu, president of the Jabalpur Bharatiya Janata Party, issued a press release saying,
Priyansh Vishwakarma, a resident of Ganganagar and a suspect in the recent sackings, does not hold any position in the BJP. “
