Queen Camilla Admits to Watching a Binge-Worthy Netflix Show with Royal Ties

Even Queen Camilla wants to know Queen Charlotte’s pick for the diamond of the season!

King Charles and Queen Camilla continued a long-standing royal tradition with a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show on May 20, where they toured several displays celebrating horticulture. During a walk around a bridgerton-theme park, the Queen, 76, revealed she watched the Netflix hit.

“I watched the first part,” she said during the exit, according to royal reporter Rebecca English.

The Regency-era series has many ties to the British royal family, including the character of Queen Charlotte inspired by the real-life wife of King George III.

Queen Camilla isn’t the only royal to follow along with Daphne, Simon, Anthony, Eloise and other characters. said Sarah Ferguson US Weekly 2021. that she was so “obsessed” with the series that she watched it twice.

Holly Johnston designed the sanctuary garden inspired by Penelope Featherington, whose love story is central to the show’s third season, which premiered its first episodes on May 16. While Penelope is shy at social events, she has an alter ego as Lady Whistledown, the author of a captivating gossip pamphlet.

“This season Bridgerton it’s about Penelope Featherington, who was known as a ‘wallflower’ in previous series,” said Johnston, who is making her Chelsea Flower Show debut Life in the countryside. “She’s a bit overlooked in society, but this season we get to see her come out. The whole context and topic [of the garden] is that even a brick wall can flourish.”

The designer continued: “I envisioned it to be a safe, personal and intimate space for her and I envisioned this young woman escaping to this garden whenever she found it difficult to be Penelope and Lady Whistledown.”

The display features a sunken seating area surrounding the fountain with details such as a romantic archway and a secret trinket box.

“The atmosphere I wanted to create was very important. I want people to feel something when they enter the space,” Johnston explained. “For this space, in particular, it is a place of safety. It is meant to be a personal space for a young woman [Penelope]. He must have felt closed in and isolated – a place where she could be vulnerable, since she carries so many secrets and fears. I wanted it to be welcoming and wrap its arms around you – a place where you can feel at one with yourself, reconcile all parts of yourself and just relax.”

Queen Camilla was not the only famous visitor Bridgerton garden. On May 20, cast members Hannah Dodd, who plays Francesca Bridgerton in Season 3, and Ruth Gemmell, who has been in all three seasons of the show as the matriarch of the Bridgerton family Violet, the widow of Viscountess Bridgerton, visited him.

Adding a special touch to this year’s royal visit, it was previously announced that King Charles is the new Patron of the Royal Horticultural Society, which hosts the annual flower show which was founded in 1913.

In addition, King Charles has recently returned to a fuller schedule of royal duties such as public appearances amid cancer treatment. The monarch joked during a May 9 trip to the Royal School of Military Engineering that he was glad to be “out of his cage”.

King Charles and Queen Camilla toured “The No-Adults Garden”, the first exhibit at the exhibition “designed by children for children”.

Students from Sullivan Elementary School who contributed to the design also gave the royal couple nickname badges, the BBC reports. The monarch was nicknamed the “Compost King”, which the eco-conscious King joked was “absolutely right”, while Camilla was dubbed the “Queen Bee” for her hobby of beekeeping.

During the outing, Queen Camilla also posed for photos with knitted statues of her rescue dogs, Bluebell and Beth! The two puppies accompanied her on royal outings, appeared in official portraits and were even featured on Queen Camilla’s coronation dress.

Just as Kate Middleton, who is currently out of the public eye as she undergoes cancer treatment, helped design the ‘Back to Nature’ garden for the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show, this year’s event also had a royal input.

Lady Amelia Windsor, granddaughter of the Duke of Kent and a second cousin once removed of King Charles, teamed up with Kent Wildflower Seeds for the garden she visited on May 20.
