Ragini Nayak was born on 21 September 1982 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India (41 years old; as of 2023). She was educated at New Era Public School, Mayapuri, New Delhi, India. Additionally, she holds a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature and an MA in English from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. She received her LLB from Delhi University Campus Law Centre. She has had a keen interest in politics since her college days. Drawing on her knowledge of designing and running electoral campaigns, she encourages students to participate in the electoral process. As in 2018, she represents the Indian National Congress.

She married Ashok Basoya, former vice-president of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), on May 5, 2013. The couple had known each other for eight years before getting married. Ashok is an advocate and a member of the All India Congress Committee. The couple has a son, Abhyudaya Basoya.

Profession

When she graduated from Delhi University, she chose student politics to start her political career. She is a political concern activist and is actively involved in politics at Delhi University. In 2005, Nayak became the President of the Students Union of Delhi University. She was also elected as NSUI National Secretary. In 2012, Ragini Nayak served as Assistant Professor of English at Lakshmi Bai College, University of Delhi. Nayak was praised by the media for her excellent communication skills, and in 2014, she was appointed spokesperson of the Delhi State Congress Committee. She is regularly invited by various news channels to participate in debates and panel discussions. In 2015, she was one of the ten members appointed to the Indian National Congress revival panel during the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections. In 2017, Ragini participated in the famous humor show Lapate Main Netaji aired on News 18.
