Lucy Letby Case
When many babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital suddenly started dying from June 2015 to July 2016, Ravi Jayaram was the first to complain to the hospital authorities. He joined his colleagues in complaining about neonatal nurse Lucy Lebby. But Lucy was smart and they failed to catch her at first. During the preliminary investigation, the hospital asked Ravi Jayaram to apologize to her as they did not find any clues against her. Later, more babies became sick while under Lucy’s care, and this kept happening. In April 2017, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) allowed doctors to speak to police. Since then, the police began investigating the mysterious death. Lucy Lebby was arrested in July 2018 and charged with the crime in November 2020.
According to media reports, Lucy Lebby gave some babies insulin and air in their blood, making them sick. She also harmed more babies by trying to feed them through tubes. This makes them suddenly sick for no apparent reason. On August 21, 2023, she was punished by Manchester Crown Court.
During the investigation, police discovered a note at Lucy’s home. She wrote in the note: “I am evil and I did it.”
