Reneé Rapp Shares She Has ‘Little Scar’ from ‘Painful’ 24th Birthday Sidewalk Fall

Reneé Rapp opens up about her birthday accident.

The actress and singer-songwriter, 24, appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday and revealed that she now has a “little scar” following the incident in New York that happened on her 24th birthday.

“You just had your birthday,” began Meyers, 50. “You were very honest about what happened, that you fell before you were drunk.”

The star explained the “literally painful” incident on January 10, “I was walking out and I was like, ‘It’s my fucking birthday. I was like, ‘I don’t care, like I honestly don’t care.’ I’m going to dinner with my friends and then I’m going to a club with my friends. I’m taking this bottle of champagne with me, thanks.”

Rapp — who plays Queen Bee Regina George in the new one Mean girls movie musical continued, “I had a new little purse, I was like, ‘Who’s coming to get me now? Nobody.’ Mind you, I ended up coming for myself. But also, when I did, I was like, ‘Hot.'”

She then added that the birthday tumble resulted in a “little scar” on her knee.

Meyers joked, “there’s something nice about getting that out of the way early on a birthday night.”

Rapp added that she took the mistake as a sign that she was going to have a “great year”, before revealing that the photos of her falling made her laugh out loud.

“There were so many paparazzi outside,” the star laughed. “I thought, ‘Honestly, this is sick.’ I said, ‘I think this is the best thing that ever happened to me.'”

“To be honest, I knew, I said, ‘I look great right now,'” she added.

At the time of the fall, birthday girl Rapp was wearing a stylish maroon leather top and matching skirt, with sheer leggings and heeled boots.

“I fell before I was drunk happy birthday,” the Mean girls the star’s Instagram caption read at the time as she drank from a bottle of champagne while sitting in the backseat of a car.

“You are truly my child. happy birthday, bb,” her on-screen mom, Busy Philipps, commented on the fun post.

Meanwhile, the actress recently opened up about being cast as the iconic bad girl, Regina George, telling PEOPLE earlier this month that she found some good qualities in the badass character.

“I love that he speaks his mind. I really do,” she said. “A lot of the things this character says aren’t nice, but I think to be manipulative you have to be really intelligent.”

“I don’t think she’s using her intelligence in the best, most productive way,” Rapp continued. “There’s something about it that I like, though. I always like a mean girl.”
