Resident Says Neighbor Karen’s Yoga Classes Have Crept Onto His Lawn That She Calls ‘Shared Nature’: ‘Am I Overreacting?’

The woman’s yoga classes put the neighbor in an awkward position.

That neighbor took to Reddit’s Am I Overreacting forum to vent about the loud and smelly yoga sessions, which have grown so large in recent weeks that participants are now using his backyard.

“So, a few months ago, my neighbor, Karen, started holding yoga classes in her backyard. No big deal, right?” the man wrote.

“Except her ‘backyard’ slowly began to spill over into my own,” he added. “At first it was just a mat or two near the fence, but now her whole group of yogis take up half my lawn every Saturday morning.”

In addition to the size of the class, he is also bothered by noises.

“They installed a whole speaker system that emits soothing nature sounds and ‘healing frequencies,'” he continued, which he claims prevents him from “enjoying his coffee in peace.”

To remedy the situation, he said he “politely asked her if she could hold her classes on her side of the fence.”

His neighbor then “laughed” at his request and said, “‘Oh, it’s all one big green space anyway,'” he recalled.

His irritation increased when yogis started using incense in class.

“Last weekend they brought incense and suddenly my backyard smells like a meditation retreat while I try to grill burgers,” he wrote. “I asked her again to maybe move the class back to her yard.”

She then told him that he “was being too territorial about the ‘community nature’ and that he should appreciate the community atmosphere,” he recalled.

On Reddit, he asked users to weigh in on whether he was overreacting or “Did Karen go a little too far with the ‘namaste’?”

One person wrote: “I’m not exaggerating. She has to stay on her side,” while another quipped, “Start turning on the sprinkler those mornings.”

Another person said they would simply call the police for trespassing.
