RHOSLC Season 5 Trailer Promises an Avalanche of Drama as Mary M. Cosby Returns to Confront 'the Biggest Liar in Utah'

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is back!

After breaking the internet with its extraordinary season four finale, the hit continuation of the beloved Bravo franchise returns for season five, premiering Wednesday, September 18 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

The network released a trailer for Season 5 on Monday, August 19, teasing what will happen between stars Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Angie Katsanevas, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose and Mary Cosby — the series’ original cast members who will be rejoining the action as full time housewife.

Cosby previously left the show after Season 2 and refused to appear at the reunion after her co-stars made comments about her controversial church. She returned in Season 4 as a friend, telling executive producer Andy Cohen Watch what’s happening live that she came back “to help you.”

Also joining the group is new housewife Bronwyn Newport, Barlow’s longtime friend who “arrives in couture with her high-end fashion and a sense of humor as sharp as the diamonds she wears,” according to an official Bravo release.

Like many Salt Lake City housewives, she has a history with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been raised Mormon. She was later excommunicated from the church when she became pregnant out of wedlock while studying at a prominent Mormon institution, Brigham Young University.

While some new housewives sometimes struggle to find their footing, Newport is “causing a sensation among the ladies with her outrageous, fantastical and confrontational style.” But Gay may not be included.

“Bronwyn’s not here to make friends and I don’t trust her,” Gay says in the trailer, before confronting her for telling everyone in the group “a different story.”

Two news friends will also be in the mix: Britani Bateman and Meili Workman.

Bateman, who was introduced to the group by Gay, is described as a “Utah native, practicing Mormon, real estate entrepreneur, actress and acclaimed singer in an on-again, off-again relationship.” He is said to be “butting heads with a few ladies from the jump.”

Workman, on the other hand, is Rose’s friend. Originally from California, the model and mother of four “was raised LDS and moved to Utah to be more involved in the church, but eventually decided the faith wasn’t for her.”

Monica Garcia tells her The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Coming out ‘wouldn’t be my decision’

Missing is Monica Garcia, the single mother of four who made an unforgettable impression in the fourth season.

PEOPLE exclusively broke the news that she was leaving the series in January. The news was released hours before the dramatic third installment of the reunion aired, where Garcia was confronted with the fact that she was one of the people behind RealityVonTease, an Instagram troll account that had a history posting negative things about RHOSLC stars.

That revelation came in the record-breaking season four finale, where Gay — in a now-iconic quote — indicated she had “certificates, evidence, timelines, screenshots” of Garcia’s bad behavior.

While Garcia won’t be part of the action this season, the trailer teases a lot of drama to come, including a major confrontation between Barlow and Katsanevas after Katsanevas seemingly knocks out Barlow for letting his son “sit and play until 2 a.m.”

“She’s talking about my parentage?” a frustrated Barlow asks Gay in the preview. “I’m a super mom. That’s a low blow.”

“I don’t think you’ve been a good friend to me lately,” Barlow later tells Katsanevas, who stands up and claps back, “You’ve been a fucking bitch to me!”

Barlow also argues with Rose, calling her a liar to Rose’s husband, who quickly jumps to his wife’s defense.

“I built everything I have,” says the owner of Vida Tequila – though Rose is quick to wrap up his point by asserting “on the backs of other people.”

“Get that fucking wig off your head,” Barlow yells at Rose, who was dressed as Barlow for the 8 Lisa cast lunch. “You’ll never be me!”

Former friends Cosby and Marks also appear to be delusional.

“You’re not always the victim,” Cosby says as he confronts Marks in one scene before dismissing her defense with “have a nice day.”

“Yeah, you used me for three years, I got the memo,” Marks says in response.

The tension only rises at the dinner where Marks is kicked out of Cosby’s dining room. “You’re one sneaky, sneaky little thing,” Cosby claims, then stands up and screams, “Get out of my house!”

“You’re the biggest liar in Utah, you big fake,” Cosby can be heard saying at the top of the trailer, seemingly referring to Marks.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Gay lashes out at a fellow cast member, yelling, “Never in a million years after everything we’ve been through did I think you’d reach out to our sworn enemy.”

Marks also took issue when she said a member of the group had been listening in on their conversations. “Are you recording us?” she asks. “I’m disgusted!”

“I don’t think he has an encryption device on him,” Gay says later. – I watched a lot of television.

Here are Bravo’s official descriptions of what’s coming:

Lisa Barlow enters the season with strong relationships, but her friendships quickly turn upside down. Meredith and Lisa promise to have each other’s backs, but her relationship with Whitney is permanently threatened after Whitney makes a series of insulting remarks about Lisa’s status as the villain of the group. Lisa counters by asserting the authenticity of Whitney’s business conduct. While Jack is on a mission, Lisa is especially hurt when Angie questions how good of a mother she was.

Mary Cosby is back full time with her fiery remarks and 2003 Dom Perignon. Mary dives back into the group, making up with Whitney and Heather after her name-calling, and Angie develops a deep and unexpected friendship. Although she has a new ally and confidant, Mary and Meredith’s longtime friendship is on thin ice as they struggle to see eye to eye.

Heather Gay is a girl with a new, unexpected loyalty to Lisa. She and Whitney continue to thrive and strengthen their foundation. Tensions with Mary come to a head when they both joke about being body positive. Heather introduces her friend Britani to the group, but when Britani repeatedly puts her foot in her mouth, Heather can no longer defend her.

Back with props and big sunglasses, Angie Katsanevas and husband Shawn put last year’s rumors and nastiness behind them as they celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. She and Mary are thick as thieves, but her friendship with Lisa is shaky as the two clash over how good of a friend they’ve been to each other.

Meredith Marks is excited to celebrate and reaffirm her Jewish faith with a bat mitzvah, which will finally bring her and Seth together. The bathwater remains murky with Whitney due to their overlapping business plans to create bath products. When Meredith repeats something she heard about Whitney’s job, the game of telephone lands her in hot water.

Whitney Rose finds herself at odds with many women. When damaging rumors about her jewelry line circulate through the group, she confronts the women to find the source. As tensions rise, the husbands become embroiled in the women’s squabbles, causing things to heat up between Justin and John. Whitney introduces the women to her friend Meili, who is quickly thrown into the fire when Lisa spills the beans about her shopping habits.

Bronwyn Newport is passionate about fashion, art and high-end lifestyle. Raised Mormon, Bronwyn was excommunicated from the church when she became pregnant while attending BYU. While raising her daughter Gwen, as a single mother, she worked in finance before marrying Todd, who is 26 years her senior. Although she and Lisa had been friends for years, she quickly realized that her old friend might not be as supportive as she wanted.
