Richard Branson’s Exclusive Necker Island Will Be Open to the Public This Holiday Season

Necker Island is getting ready for the holidays!

Billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson (73) has opened his paradise in the British Virgin Islands to the public for the next two months.

“This year, we’re inviting travelers from around the world to experience something special to close out the year and celebrate 2023,” Necker Island General Manager James Basson told the Robb Report. “For the first time, we are offering guests the opportunity to book an individual room during select dates during the holiday season and have unique access to our beautiful private island.”

The 74-hectare island was previously only available to personal guests of the Virgin Group founder – or those who could book the entire island. But now the public has access to individual rooms on the island.

For the next two months, tourists can book an individual room, not the whole island. However, only 24 rooms are available.

Starting November 18th through November 25th and December 11th through December 26th, single rooms are now available for reservation. November prices start at $5,400, while December prices start at $5,850.

“The Necker is open most of the year for buyout only, and there are only select weeks of the year when guests can reserve an individual room,” Basson told the Robb Report. “These weeks don’t usually fall over the holiday season, but this year we’re excited to offer travelers the most special holiday season yet.”

The stay includes several accommodations including food, alcohol, return boat and water sports, as well as kid-friendly entertainment, according to the Robb Report.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas, Necker Island introduces travel ban days. Instead of a day without travel, the island organized a special Christmas itinerary, which includes a Christmas night with a visit from Santa Claus, an after party with a DJ and an event called “Get Grinched Beach Olympics”.

Those who book a room on Necker Island will join celebrity guests from previous years, including Barack and Michelle Obama, Harry Styles, Jimmy Fallon, Kate Winslet, Nick and Vanessa Lachey, Mariah Carey, Kate Moss, Robert DeNiro, Nelson Mandela and Princess Diana.

Branson bought the land in 1978 when he was only 29 years old. In 2007, he bought an additional island, Moskito Island, and built 11 villas on the island for tourists.

The billionaire businessman opened Moskito Island to the public in 2021. The 125-acre private paradise is located 2 miles from the billionaire’s private island in the British Virgin Islands.
