According to some media sources, Rohit Ranjan went on to study journalism soon after completing his schooling. In September 2010, he started working as a news anchor at P7 News Channel, a position he held until May 2015. Rohit Ranjan joined Zee Media Corporation Limited as Anchor and Task Head in June 2015 and held the position till April 2016. From 2018 to February 2019, he served as the editor of TV24 news channel. He subsequently joined News World India as executive producer in April 2019 and held the position till July 2020. On July 1, 2022, Rohit Ranjan created a controversy when he aired a fake news video of INC Chairman Rahul Gandhi in a news program aired on Zee News Channel. Prashant Agrawal, Senior Superintendent of Police of Raipur, mentioned at a media conference that MLA Devendra Yadav on July 1, 2022 Rohit Ranjan filed suit. Zee News Channel anchor Rohit Ranjan’s show. Yadav added that the video was shown to incite enmity between different groups and also to outrage the religious sentiments of Indian citizens. In a video, Congress president Rahul Gandhi forgives those who vandalized his Wayanad office, calling them children; however, the video aired by Zee News channel was doctored as Rahul Gandhi urged Forgive the murderer of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal. Soon after the complaint was lodged against Rohit Rajan, two police teams from Ghaziabad and Chhattisgarh reached Rohit Rajan’s residence and started fighting for his custody. The Ghaziabad police officer said that the local police were not involved in the case. Meanwhile, Rohit Ranjan published a post on his Twitter account soon after the news went viral on multiple media channels. He tagged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the post. Ranjan wrote,
The Chhattisgarh police stood outside my house and arrested me without informing the local police. Is it legal?
In response, Raipur Police tweeted:
There are no such rules to tell. However, now they have been informed. The police team has presented you with a court warrant. In fact, you are expected to cooperate, participate in the investigation, and defend your case in court. “
Later, Rohit Ranjan was arrested by the Ghaziabad police at his residence. The police announced to the media that Rohit had been detained by the Noida police. On the same day, he was granted temporary bail.

Rohit Ranjan and Zee News Media channel apologized on one of the social media platforms on July 2, 2022, stating that they wrongly aired Rahul Gandhi’s video of July 1, 2022, out of context and associated it with Ukraine Dybr murder case linked. The Udaipur murder took place on June 28, 2022. Rohit Ranjan tweeted:
This was a human error and our team apologizes. We apologize for this. “
