Ryan Reynolds Calls Nickelback 'One of the Greatest Bands' While Revealing Deadpool & Wolverine Deleted Scene

Ryan Reynolds is showing some love to some fellow Canadian artists.

On Thursday, November 14, the Vancouver native, 48, posted a deleted scene from his hit film on Instagram Deadpool & Wolverine. Nickelback’s 2008 song “Never Gonna Be Alone” plays over part of the clip.

“Siri, find a deleted, half-baked montage featuring one of the biggest bands in the world and Hugh absolutely nailing his four words of dialogue,” Reynolds wrote in the caption, referring to Nickelback and his co-star Hugh Jackman. “And do it quickly because it will likely be removed for many reasons.”

The clip shows Deadpool and Wolverine walking across a vast landscape as Deadpool continues to babble before Wolverine pushes him to the ground and tells him, “F— off.” Deadpool then starts speaking in an Australian accent saying “The Time Ripper” — a device from the movie that is used to destroy the timeline.

“You got a nice Time Ripper,” Deadpool says in an Australian accent. “That’s fun.” Wolverine replies, “It’s not.”

This isn’t the first time Reynolds has expressed affection for the band — which includes Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair — known for hits like “How You Remind Me,” “Rockstar” and “Photograph.”

When Fred Savage (reprising his role from The princess bride) mocks Nickelback, Deadpool retorts, “I’m sick of hating on Nickelback, okay? You think that makes you cool with the cool kids at school, Fred?”

It then presents a series of statistics and achievements that demonstrate their popularity.

“Fifty million albums sold worldwide, 11th best-selling musician of all time, Billboard’s most successful rock group of the last decade, six Grammy nominations and 12 Juno Awards – counting them – six Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, one People’s Choice Award , a Canadian and a partridge in a fucking pear,” he said.

Five years later, in 2023, Reynolds recorded a video message to induct the group into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammys.

“There are a million reasons to be a proud Canadian, and tonight the Junos and Canada come together to celebrate one of them: Alberta’s homegrown talent, Joni Mitchell!” Reynolds joked. “Wait, Nickelback? I love Nickelback! Wasn’t Joni Mitchell in Nickelback?”
